Let's talk about scales! This vintage double pan balance scale is a unique statement piece that you can add as a decor to your living space, or as a functional piece to your kitchen. It still works - all you need to do is add calibration weights* to measure the weight of an ingredient that will go into the recipe of your liking. Alternatively, this piece can also be used as a learning prop for your experiments with your budding little scientists who want to learn more about scales and weights.
A little bit of history about this piece: this is an example of a Roverbal Balance, a type of a mechanical scale designed in the late 1660s by French mathematician, Gilles de Roverbal. The concept was presented to the French Academy of Sciences, and was thought to be revolutionary in design and approach. Roverbal Balance scales are hard to come by these days, especially with the rise of smart scales. This piece is undated, but we approximate it to be produced before 1940s, before electronic powered scales became all the rage.
Dimensions: 31 cm (length) x 22 cm (height)
Material: brass (pans) and cast iron (body of the scale)
*Calibration weights can be bought widely on different e-platforms, and they usually measure from 10-200 grams.

Put on your shoes with a bit of assistance from this little shoe helper. This solid brass shoe horn with a squirrel handle is such a unique piece, which was approximately manufactured before 1980s. You rarely see shoe horns made of solid brass these days.
A little trivia about the history of shoe horns: did you know that shoehorns are known to have been first produced in the renaissance era? This was a very handy tool in royal households. It has been told that Queen Elizabeth I had shoehorns crafted for her household, and this became all the rage among Elizabethans. Shoehorn designs were even customized to certain families. It was originally made of animal horns - but thankfully that is no longer the norm! Eventually, shoe horn makers transitioned to the use of metal and wood. Today, most shoe horns are made of plastic.

So you've seen mostly tea sets from Seltmann Weiden, but we also scored a 2-pc serving dish from our sourcing trip. We rarely see Seltmann Weiden pieces like this - and in contrast to most of what we have in this collection, this set is not only defined by the golden accent, but by intricately printed spring leaves.
The design reminds us of special occasions when family comes together over a nice meal. Imagine serving your time-honored family recipes in these serving dishes. It can't get more sentimental than that.

We found this piece in one of our sourcing trips and it was love at first sight. This is the only set from Poland in our collection, and it was produced by Cmielow Porcelain Works no less, approximately in the 1930s.
Cmielow is the oldest and among the largest craft manufactories in Poland. The manufactory was a private company until 1946, when the firm was nationalized during the period of communism in the country. In 1997, the company was reprivatized. The most prized Cmielow ceramics are exhibited in various museums in Poland, including the National Museum in Kielce.
This 18-pc set comes with 5 tea cups, 5 saucers, 5 dessert plates, a tea pot, a sugar bowl, and creamer. Perfect for a tea party of 5!
Dimensions:
Tea cups: 7.5 cm (height) x 8.4 cm (diameter)
Saucers: 13.1 cm
Dessert Plates: 17 cm

Cobalt blue glass is a statement piece that we definitely like to have in our vitrine. This is a liquor decanter.
As far as vintage glass is concerned, cobalt blue is among the most sought after pigments - alongside pink, green, and brown. This piece is undated and unmarked, but we find this color irresistible.

This ivory soup tureen with minimalist gold accent was produced by H&C Selb circa 1950s. H&C Selb was founded by Franz Heinrich, who started a porcelain painting business in 1896. In 1901, he started producing his whiteware and later became one of the largest porcelain producers in the country.
In the 70s, H&C Selb became a part of Villeroy and Boch.

Blue and white collectors, this vintage baking dish is for you! This ceramic baking dish was produced in Viana Do Castelo in Portugal, and was hand painted by a craftsperson named Candida.
Viana Do Castelo is a municipality in the Northern region of Portugal, and it is noted for their craftmanship in lace, gold, and pottery. The first pottery factory was established in 1774, and most of their pieces centered on the creation of utilitarian wares. Ceramics produced in Viana Do Castelo are particularly known for their blue and white pieces.

Check out this elegant ivory sugar bowl with minimalist gold accent. This vintage porcelain from Bavaria was produced by Eschenbach, which has been in the porcelain industry since 1891.
The porcelain factory of Eschenbach was completely destroyed during the Second World War, but was rebuilt in 1959. This piece is undated but we reckon it to be produced sometime in 60s, when most of the Eschenbach pieces sported the classic gold accents.

Our one of a kind porcelain vintage tea set manufactured by Seltmann Weiden circa 1950s. It has subtle green and gold accents. Seltmann Weiden porcelain factory was founded by Christian Seltmann in 1910. All Seltmann Weiden porcelain are manufcatured exclusively in Germany. The factory is still functional, and they have since expanded their operations across the country.
A little bit of post-WWII trivia: after the Second World War, their former porcelain factories in Erbendorf and Krummennaab hosted American soldiers for a long time.
Seltmann Weiden has also acquired the royal privileged porcelain factory in Tettau (founded in 1700s and also the oldest porcelain factory in Germany).
Shake up your tea set collection by combining this unique single set with a modern tea set. It will stand up for sure and be a conversation starter.

We are in love with this vintage porcelain tea set. It has a floral print at the center - a perfect finishing touch to its gold accents. This piece originates from Bavaria and is trademarked. The trademark is smudged though so we are unable to approximate the date of manufacture.
Despite this, we find this piece to be timeless for sure. Pair this up with our other single tea sets for a full maximalist set up.
