You visit Kenyatta' National hospital from 6th floor and you realize that No one talks about money, Career goals, good jobs or ambitions.
You will find a cancer patient at ward 5B,8th floor or one whose organ has failed at 6th floor who's dream is just to walk again,
Another ones at ward 3C wish is only to wake up and pray but had no energy Then other one at ward 2A only wish is to reunite with his family and kids.
Then when You are in the lift, on your way out, you meet 3 on top of trays taken to the mortuary downstairs.

Ecclesiastes 3 vs 11 says He makes everything beautiful in its time.

Soldiers/police officers do indeed carry alot of emotional baggage and maybe have no one to offload to.

It's sad reality that Mental Health in the disciplined forces should be given first priority eg the cop who shot a Magistrate today we might speculate on what was happening in his life but if he had the right venting avenues things would have turned out differently.

This being Men's Mental Awareness Month I think we need to tell our dudes that it's ok to seek therapy,nothing to be ashamed about, it's not the time to man up after all we've lost enough already.

There's somewhere I raised a particular concern that even tho we have cops trained in counseling courses etc it's actually hard for one to confide in knowing the basic of confidentiality and opening up to be able to get the necessary help.

At times we will laugh about it and makes jokes but until it gets close or hits close home that's the time you realise it's a very serious thing.

Police officers are the first hand responders to alot of bad things that happen in the society meaning the trauma transfer to them is so real and immediate now couple this with the 'manly' shield of I am alright and we have a ticking 💣 ready to go off at the slightest provocation.

I hope that one day we shall embrace therapy,as we do our Doctors visits,I hope that our cops Mental well being will be on the forefront and the cops as well face this with open minds and seek help when one needs to.
