The New Democrats Party leader and Former Marakwet West member of Parliament, David Sudi, has called upon President William Ruto to engage in dialogue with the striking doctors and medics in the country. Sudi emphasized the need for the health sector services to be under the control of the National government, citing concerns over the capacity of county governments to effectively manage healthcare.

Addressing the press at the party offices in Nairobi, Sudi highlighted the challenges faced by Kenyans due to the ongoing strikes and urged the President to take immediate action to alleviate the suffering of the people.

In a surprising turn, Sudi also expressed his support for Raila Odinga’s bid for the AU chairmanship, praising the former Prime Minister’s experience in African affairs and asserting that Odinga’s candidacy would be beneficial for Kenya.

ODM rejects World Bank and IMF’s role in bipartisan talks

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has opposed a move by the Kenya Kwanza administration to include experts from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in ongoing bipartisan talks with the Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition.

The party blames the two international bodies for the country’s economic challenges and accuses the government of a lack of commitment to lowering the cost of living.

The financial institutions are expected to give expert input on the cost of living in a forum convened by the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) on Tuesday, October 31.

But in a statement on Monday, ODM rejected their participation and urged its delegation to stand firm on the issue.

The party further stated that while the talks were ongoing, the current regime continued to implement measures that exacerbated the cost of living, including fuel price hikes and the introduction of new and punitive taxes and levies.

The talks team recently closed ranks on several issues but is yet to agree on how to address the current high cost of living and audit of last year’s presidential elections.

The committee announced that they had reached an agreement on the creation of the offices of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Official Leader of Opposition.

They also reached a consensus on the entrenchment of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGF-CDF) and the two-gender rule principle.

Jubilee leaders demand county appointments from Mombasa governor

Jubilee Party leaders in Mombasa have accused Governor Abdulswamad Nassir of sidelining them in county appointments and failing to honour his promises made to them during last year’s gubernatorial race.

The leaders say they rallied their supporters to vote for Nassir as their Azimio la Umoja Coalition candidate, contributing to his definite victory against other opponents.

However, they claim that not even a single Jubilee member has benefited from any position in the county government, making them feel disgruntled and ignored.

They also accuse Nassir of failing to creating time to meet with them and thank them for their support.
