Meet Juju!✨

Owner and co-founder of Pink Rhino Mallorca!

“I grew up on the beaches in Sydney, Australia. As a kid I always was super active; swimming, surfing, playing sports and spending time outdoors! My parents and older siblings started doing PT sessions, and never one to miss out I joined in and at the age of 15 my love of weight training, and at the time boxing, began.

After high school I joined the super yacht industry and worked as a Chief Stewardess on and off for 6 years. Whenever the season was over, the very first thing I did was join the closest gym and get straight back into my training.

I tried to stay “fit” during the season (running, swimming and yes I hung a TRX in my bedroom) but of course it was hard to be consistent with it. As much as I loved the travel and amazing experiences that working on yachts provides, the lack of consistency and my passion for health and fitness finally took over. I quit yachting, moved to Berlin and began my career as a CrossFit Coach. I worked full time in CrossFit boxes, coaching 6 classes a day with up to 20 people per class and PT’s on top of that!

While CrossFit was a fantastic introduction into my fitness career, I wanted to progress further so I studied other forms of fitness and nutrition and together with my partner Rob we began an online coaching business. I always had the vision of creating a space where like-minded people could come together to share their love of all things health, fitness and specialty coffee!

The online business didn’t really allow for the in-person and community experience that I loved so after 1 year we closed the business, moved to the sunny island of Mallorca, found our dream space and Pink Rhino was born” 💫

So, how did all of this start?

As you know, behind every brand is a person with a story and a background.🙌

Today we would like to introduce you to Rob, owner and co-founder of Pink Rhino Mallorca!

This is his story ⬇️

I grew up in France, studied in the Alps and then lived in Asia for a few years as an engineer.
I was always into sports and quite active as a kid, so I had the chance to explore lots of different sports and activities, without a strong focus on any of them. It's only during my studies in the Alps that I started to be more serious about training : Triathlon. I learned discipline and consistency, spent lots of time on my bike, running the mountains or swimming across small lakes. Hours of endurance training in the beautiful French mountains, it was great and I enjoyed every bit of it but something was missing to me...

Couple of years later, with a fairly demanding job in Asia and less time to train for triathlon I turned to the gym and started CrossFit / Functional Fitness. I got quickly hooked up, I loved the almost infinite possibilities and applications I found in the sports and I started to educate myself while stil being full-time employed as an engineer.

I signed up for my personal trainer certification first, followed by my CrossFit Level-1. Everything changed when I decided to quit my job for the first time and move to Berlin. I explored CrossFit more, started to coach full-time and continued my education. And then, as many of us, COVID hit.

Juju and I decided to build our first company while in Berlin : online coaching for fitness and nutrition. We had some success but realised quickly that it was not the right thing for us. Coaching in person and opening a space to share what we do, and what we love to do : That was our thing, and there began the idea of Pink Rhino.

We then moved to Mallorca, which I did not know much about but Juju loving the island the decision was easy!
And here we are, few months of hard work and dedication later : Pink Rhino was born!✨

Romanian Deadlift!🔥

The key to achieving the desired results while doing any type of exercise or workout is the quality of our posture and movement.

Today we are focusing on the "Romanian Deadlift” (RDL).
Let's point out some important points to have in mind:👇

•Neutral spine

•Slight bend in knees

•Keep shins relatively vertical

•Hinge over at the hips and push your butt back

•Key is to maximise hip flexion

As this might look like an easy exercise, it is very important to do it right to avoid any wrong movements or injuries.👌

So let's tell you a little bit more about Pink Rhino and introduce our purposeful FBB concept 🙌

FBB was first Introduced by former CrossFit athlete Marcus Filly.

The main objective of this method is to combine the ideology of functional fitness with the principles of bodybuilding, always focusing on:

✅ Workouts designed to achieve your aesthetic goals.
✅ Quality of movement over intensity.
✅ Strength training for all fitness levels.
✅ Sustainability: through structured and purposeful training generating progressive results over time (work too hard and you’ll burn out, don't train hard enough and you’ll barely see any results).
