Displaced people and refugees are not just numbers on a page. They are families separated without a choice, children who miss school indefinitely, and individuals with hopes and ambitions just like us.

They carry stories of resilience, loss, and hope. They deserve safety, a place to call home, and the chance to rebuild their dreams.

Today on , let's remember the faces behind the statistics. Let's stand for a world where everyone has the right to live with dignity and hope.

Today, we celebrated , at our head office in Addis Ababa creating a memorable event filled with joy, gratitude, and a sense of community. The hall was abuzz with excitement as many guests, staff and community members came together to honour the day.

The celebration began with a warm welcome speech, setting a positive tone for the day. Karmen Till, World Vision Ethiopiaโ€™s National Director, in her opening remarks, highlighted โ€œChild Sponsorship puts a child, who one day will be potential leaders, prime ministers, teachers and influencers, in a place of importance.โ€

โ€œThough times and needs are changing, the heart of the vision of Child Sponsorship for the current 140,000 sponsored children in Ethiopia and the many yet to come is still the same, the relationship that transforms remains the foundation of World Vision and our vision for children. โ€œ- Karmen Till added.

The day was highlighted by heartfelt stories from former and current registered children, invited families, and community members. These testimonials were powerful, illustrating the transformative effect that child sponsorship has had on the lives of the and their communities.

Former registered child Tigist recounted how supporting a child's education had created a ripple effect, "The support I received from the Child Sponsorship program made my dreams and aspirations possible. I succeeded in life because World Vision was there for me." Tigist shared.

It was a day of reflection, appreciation, and renewed dedication to the cause of Child Sponsorship. The event not only highlighted the tangible benefits of sponsorship but also strengthened the bonds within the community, fostering a spirit of compassion and support.

This , we celebrate a remarkable transformation in Humbo, !

Imagine a barren mountain, ravaged by years of uncontrolled logging. Floods eroding fertile lands, destroying assets, and leaving families struggling with hunger and displacement.

This was the reality for 50-years-old Katimar, a Humbo resident who witnessed his once-lush land turn into a wasteland. But thanks to a collaborative effort by World Vision, the Ethiopian government, and the incredible Humbo community, a story of hope emerged!

We recently joined Katimar on a trek through the Humbo Mountain Afforestation Project, the first of its kind in Africa to receive UN carbon credits. The once-barren landscape is now a thriving forest, teeming with life!

This transformation isn't just beautiful, it's life-changing.
Here's how the Humbo Reforestation Project empowered the community:

This is just one example of the incredible impact 's reforestation projects can have. We're committed to doing even more across Ethiopia!

War's Scars Run Deep, But Hope Endures: A Family Affected by Conflict Rebuilds in region.

Aregay and Hiwot, a young couple in Tigray, , had everything: a loving family, a cozy home, and dreams for the future. Then, a conflict erupted, shattering their world.

Forced to flee, they lost their jobs, their home, and even the comfort of having their children nearby. But Aregay held onto one thing - hope for his family.

Their story is not unique. War's impact stretches far beyond the battlefield and rebuilding shattered lives takes time, strength, and a helping hand.

Thankfully, World Vision, with a fund from USAID, became Aregay and Hiwot's helping hand. They received materials to rebuild their home, clean water, and essential supplies. With each step, hope flickered brighter.

Today, they have a safe haven for their children, a roof over their heads, and a renewed spirit. Hiwot even dreams of helping others one day, paying forward the kindness she received.

Let this story be our reminder that even in the darkest times, hope can rise from the ashes.
