After my internship I was propelled into a number of different situations, travelling across all continents, trying out various different projects and in the end finding my passion in private equity and transformations.

Hello everyone! 👋 My name is Samuel and I am working as a Consultant at the McKinsey Helsinki office. I studied finance at Turku School of Economics and Hanken. During my studies I did a few internships in finance, including private equity, capital markets and corporate finance.

As a sports enthusiast I like to spend my free time doing endurance and weight training, skiing, and lately brazilian jiu-jitsu, where I find myself folded into a pretzel a few times a week. 🥨

Originally, what sparked my interest in McKinsey were the people I met on excursions. I felt like I connected really well with many individuals. What I’ve loved at McKinsey so far is the incredibly powerful feeling you get, when you see your work create a positive impact for the client - it gives me a huge motivation boost to keep learning and developing. 🌻⚡️

When I joined the firm I appreciated how you from day one take part in the team’s problem solving and already in my first projects, I got the opportunity to drive my own workstreams and engage with clients. With great coaching and mentorship, it has been empowering to see how fast you can grow at McKinsey both personally and professionally. 🌱

As I'm not a coffee (or any caffeine) drinker, I need to find an energy source somewhere else, and for me, it’s definitely the people! Our research finds that Finland is particularly well suited to benefit from the technology. Generative AI makes it possible to automate complex tasks that many Finns work with today.

Europe has a strong record on sustainability and inclusion. But in a new geo-economic era, the region faces emerging pressures on its competitiveness in seven dimensions — from energy to supply chains to talent.

Left unaddressed, €500 billion to €1 trillion of European value added could be at stake annually by 2030, according to new research by the McKinsey Global Institute.

Our latest research – developed in collaboration with World Economic Forum – presents pioneering initiatives from public and private organizations, highlights 7 concrete actions for leaders to promote resilience, and identifies opportunities for public-private collaboration and investments.

One of the pioneering initiatives presented in the report includes National Emergency Supply Agency's (Huoltovarmuuskeskus) project on creating a crisis-ready grocery store network in Finland.

Our recent report on circularity in the built environment, co-authored by the World Economic Forum, and featuring Helsinki senior partner Jukka Maksimainen, indicates that 75% of material-related emissions can be abated through circularity in the sector. ♻️

Growing population and accelerating urbanization could further increase this pressure on the environment. However, there is an opportunity to transition from current consumption and production patterns to a more sustainable circular approach.

Hello there! 👋

I'm Niko, a Business Analyst at the McKinsey Helsinki Office. I'm born and raised in Helsinki, and my academic background is in Industrial Engineering and Management from Aalto University, where my studies initially sparked my interest in consulting.
Before joining McKinsey, my professional journey began in the Finnish startup ecosystem, working on and building new ventures. Reflecting on my journey so far, while startups and consulting are traditionally considered quite different, the factors that drew me to startups were actually quite similar to those that drew me into consulting.

Firstly, both startups and consulting involve significant inventiveness in the nature of their work, which I enjoy as I have always been passionate about exploring and working on new ideas. Secondly, both require continuous learning and problem-solving, which suits me well as I love learning and solving complex problems. Lastly, both involve collaborative, agile, and international ways of working, which align with my working preferences.

These characteristics, combined with the dynamic problems, teams, and environments, as well as intriguing projects (like my most recent project about utilizing tech in a traditional industry), excite me for my day-to-day work at McKinsey ✨

Sports with friends has always been my go-to activity in my free time. Basketball, as well as tennis and other racket sports, have been lifelong interests of mine, offering a way to stay fit but also to share enjoyable moments with both old and new pals. I also love trying out new sports—last summer, I got involved with surfing, and I definitely see myself trying to catch some green waves again in the near future 🏄🏻‍♂️
