Hi everyone 👋

I need help.

I’m looking for volunteers to help me wash some mouldy clothes.

We’ve come into possession of 7,000 t-shirts which are brand new but given to us because the shipping container was pierced and got wet on route to Australia. I’m trying to save these t-shirts from landfill and give them a new life in Fiji amd help us raise money but I’m struggling and need more hands on deck (especially as I don’t have a clothes dryer!) I’ve done around 2,000 myself so far

The t-shirts need to be soaked in borax in hot water for 30 mins and then a warm machine wash. I can provide the borax.

Is anyone else able to assist me/prepared to do a few or more loads at their place? Example of t-shirt below.

Hi Everyone,

Exciting news, it looks like we've secured a fantastic location to sort donations in Murrumbeena, thanks to some very generous people.

So the next steps would be extra hands. We need people who would be able to volunteer on either a Tuesday or Wednesday to sort clothing donations. Likely from 10-2pm.

If you're someone who could volunteer some time and get to Murrumbeena once a week - please get in touch and express interest :)

Help us make a difference to people and animals doing in tough in Fiji.

Hi Everyone,

I need your help.

We are hoping to find a community sorting space - hopefully free or minimal cost - once a week to host volunteers and sort our clothing donations for 3-4 hours.

It is time to give my mum a break from sorting over 400,000 pieces of clothes!! - so anyone who has a contact, is part of a community group, has a contact at a scouts hall or council contact - please get in touch.

The current preference is for south of the yarra river :)

Donation update!

Clothes for Good is proud to donate $2,520 to cover the cost of rice for a month to Fiji's only Dog Sanctuary.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to do a call out for Kids + Baby Clothes.

We need donations of all sorts to send to Fiji to support + raise money for Children with disabilities, domestic violence causes and animal welfare.

But as we speak we are really short of babies and kids clothing. If you have any baby or kids clothing (any size up to 16) please let us know.

If you can spread the word or if you have a friend or family member who might be able to rustle something together - please share.

Thank you so much for all of your support,
Hayden

Thank you to Helping Hands Mission Op Shops.

Helping Hands are an awesome Australian charity with multiple op shops in Melbourne’s north which funds their emergency food pantry’s for those in need.

Mel, Adam and their team have been one of the earliest supporters of Clothes for Good and have given so much helpful advice.

They’ve also given us access to their bailer so we can fit more donations into our shipping containers - meaning we can do more for less $$$.

Thank you Mel and Adam!

Good news! We finally have a roadworthy van to come and pick up everyone’s generous donations!

It needed a little bit of work to get on the road, but on the road and purchased for less than $4,000 total which is going to save us so much more money in the long term instead of renting Bunnings vans.

Thank you everyone for your lovely support 💚💚

Thanks to Good Job Op Shop who kindly donated some of their overflow stock to help people in Fiji 🇫🇯

Thank you to Robyn and the residents of Tooronga village who organised a large clear out of clothes to donate to clothes for good.

Robyn was one of the first people to assist when clothes for good was just an idea. It was lovely to collect so many lovely donations to send to Fiji!

10/04/2024

Hi Everyone,

Firstly, thank YOU so much for all of the support. It has been amazing to be in Fiji, see the happy faces with our donations, be able to make important financial contributions to worthy organisations (more coming, stay tuned) and to have two established op shops in Fiji - the first and only not-for-profit ones.

I'm now back in Melbourne and back to collecting donations. If you have any further donations, have been waiting till I'm back or can spread the word and help by sharing this post into any community groups or your personal page - I'd be so grateful.

All donations of clothes, shoes, bags, matching linen, costume jewellery and accessories are welcomed! But we are in particular need of the items in the post.

Thank you again for all of your support and after having a few days off I'm back on the road collection donations.

Really exciting news.

Yesterday Clothes For Good was able to provide a $3,000 cheque to New Vision of Fiji. This money will go towards connecting Fijians with disabilities in remote areas and islands to support services, obtaining vital equipment to allow their participation in society as well as provide micro loans for those with disabilities to start their own businesses.

You can see us covered in the Fiji 6 o'clock news too.

Thank you to everyone in Melbourne for helping to make this happen and making a real difference to our neighbours in the pacific.
