INSPIRING LIFE STORY

Bula , I would like to share with you my life story on how I became the person that I am today and I hope i will motivate a lot of young people out there.

My name is Vili aka w***y and from the Golden town,Tavua .I was raised up in a very challenging family , a family where no one was working. Both of my parents were unemployed and there was 8 of us in my family. We live in a small wooden house with no electricity nor water .

Every morning , we have to wake up to fetch for water from our neighbour for cooking and bathing and I can clearly remember at the back of my mind how we use to stand on our toe high to watch movies outside our neighbours house through their window outside😭 .

My father was a farmer and a fisherman whereas my mother use to go out in the sea to catch crab and sell it to earn for our living .Every afternoon after school, while the other students goes home and rest we are always on the street selling Crabs or Fish .

Moreover , life was really hard and it was always sad to see our parents struggling everyday to feed us despite the weather but one thing for sure keeping us in school to get access to Education was their first priority no matter what
It was back in 2010 , during our prize Giving ceremony where my parents cried so hard with excitement when they heard that I scoop the Dux award in my Local school. All the other friends of mine went to other big school because there parents can afford to send them there but I had no choice but to go to our local school.Even though I was in high school , still it didn't stop me from doing daily duties which is to go and do the selling after school and this continues till year 13.

To add on , it was this day when we had cadet training in our school and we were to pay $40 per person for our cadet uniform but at that moment my parents did not have money so my sister and I went to sell fried fish with cassava for $2 per packet in town
After high school , I went to university and I did not want to be a burden to my parents for them to think about my fare every day to school since two of us was in University at the same time .I look for jobs in the Suva, Nausori corridors and I ended up having three jobs at one time...I was doing packing at a supermarket, washing of dishes in a restaurant and cleaning shoes in a shoe shop respectively one after the other and I always tell my parents that I am good since the school is paying for my fare .

I was staying with my cousins and everyday I used to cry thinking about what my family are having at home and the place where my parents are everyday which is either at sea or in the farm .I tell you, I have been through the worst I know how it feels to be stepped down , how it feels to be starving , how it feels to be broke and how it feels to see your friends having things that you want to have but can't.

I faced a lot of mountains but nothing stopped me because everyday I feel like giving up I always think about the struggles that I went through and the sacrifice that my parents have for me and my siblings.

It was in 2017 , when I finished school and finally got a job at Westpac Banking Corporation as a bank officer while my 1 of my sister ended up as a teacher and the other become a fisheries officer while the rest are still in school
All of the struggles, pain and sacrifice that we went through was worth it because it has taught us a lesson which is to never give up and keep trying.

My dear brothers and sisters, I would like to give you three advice today :

1)Do not forget your upbringing and the struggles and sacrifice that your parents and family have made for you ☺.

2) Never be ashamed of who you are, where you from and how you were raised up ☺.

3) Never give up, never say never , and always respect the Man Above ☺.

To conclude, I pray that i have change and motivate a lot of life and mentality today .I wish you all well and God Bless You All .

Vinaka
