Heads up! Down in , where summer is drawing to a close, it’s harvest time! With our white grapes already in, we’re turning our hands - and heads - to the red grapes since a few weeks. It’s all hands on deck. In the northern hemisphere, our vines are returning to life, with buds blossoming into leaves – as our southern vines wind down their growth and offer up the fruits of their labour.
Beaux Regards: Château Lafite Rothschild puts on its best fairytale ‘look’ for a photo by photographer Thibaut Cuisset, who visited us at Lafite in 2016 as part of our ‘Regards Sur Lafite’ series. A treasured archive chronicling the passage of time at the estate. At the height of summer, you can often catch our castle surrounded by the most stylish of blooms.
Atmosphere: It’s not just delicious local honey from our resident bees, our now-blossoming vines, the soft white stone of southern France or the crisp blue of the sky overhead that makes the Aussières atmosphere so special. They all play a part! But it’s our vibrant team of dedicated winemakers – their warmth and savoir faire – that are essential to the spirit of Aussières. Want to see for yourself? Pay us a visit!
Bodies behind the Body: Winemaking is an art that’s inseparable from the body. From the language we use to describe it, to the muscle-building labour of our work from the vineyard to the vats, we use our bodies every day in the making of the best possible wine. Discover a few of the ‘moves’ our vignerons master in the art of winemaking, in our article ’Epaulé-Jetté from the second edition of our quarterly DBR Lafite Journal – link in Bio.
What’s the origin of the word ‘Lafite’?
Tell us what you think! Does it come from…
Over time, wine bottles have become a recognisable uniform for what’s inside – region, grape variety, and more – but this wasn’t always the case. Join us for a fascinating journey through the history (and future) of bottling, with Château Lafite Rothschild’s Frederic Domingo; link to the full article via link in bio.
Meet Jean-Louis! Our new vineyard manager, he’s been with us at for just six months, but is already part of the family. Ever since his first sip of Château L’Evangile, he decided “this is my favourite Pomerol – I want to work there!” He loves working in our ‘little laboratory’ where we conduct R&D because “It’s so varied, interesting, and rewarding.” Visiting the estate? You might find Jean-Louis walking in the vineyard with his Labrador, overseeing experiments.
Merci, Jean-Louis !
Each year, Château Lafite Rothschild invites a celebrated photographer to capture their own views of Lafite, to be part of a treasured collection of images known as ‘Regards Sur Lafite’. For the turn of the millenium, we invited our youngest ever guest - Antonin Borgeaud. During his visit, he created beautiful images of the estate in his signature dramatic monochrome, elevating the everyday to the enigmatic. Merci, Antonin !

It’s official! We are thrilled to announce the arrival of to the DBR Lafite Family. We couldn’t be happier about this new chapter for both our estates, marking the evolution of Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite into the exceptional terroirs of Chablis. Domaine William Fevre is renowned for its pioneering organic farming practices, and our two families have long held shared values – from respect for the spirit of our land and care for our teams, to a dedicated approach to environmentally conscious winemaking… it’s a match made in (Chablis) heaven!

2023 has been a tumultuous year in winemaking, marked by extreme weather on our estates around the world – from heavy rain and floods to frost and drought, followed by late summer heatwaves. Nothing has been ‘normal’ this year… but the truth is that adaptation to new situations has become the norm. We can only try to act with as much flexibility and wisdom as possible.
This is a vintage of atypical character, that tells a story of collaboration and collective savoir-faire – and how better to illustrate this than with the image of our beloved Marine cows, restored from the brink of extinction in the Lafite marshes?
This year, renowned wildlife photographer joined us at to capture our beloved cows in their natural environment, where the herd roams happily year round. We wish them, and you, a year of freedom, hope, and excellent company!
