Tear Trough and Cheek Treatment

Quite often people come in requesting tear trough fillers and don’t realise that part of their problem is actually cheek volume loss too. This patient was treated over 2 sessions adding volume to the cheek area initially and followed up with a tear trough filler.

The tear trough is the area between your cheek and lower eyelid. As we age, we lose volume in this area sometimes causing under-eye dark circles to appear. An effective tear trough treatment is to inject filler into this area – restoring the lost volume and reducing the appearance of dark circles.

As shown in this patient, Filler is a quick, safe and natural way to fill the trough and hydrate the area.

The key to this treatment is actually to underfill because the filler attracts water, the results continue to improve for 2 weeks after treatment. So although you can expect immediate results following the treatment the optimum results are seen 2 weeks later.

There is a definite lack of understanding when it comes to bruising. It's inevitable, needles are being injected and there are a lot of vessels in the face 🩸

Bruising is part of the deal with injectables, now and again it's going to happen and a bruise in isolation is not an indication of any lack of competence. Expect some minor bruising and if you don't have any great! ❤️

💉Safety advice for those seeking aesthetics treatments and for other medical treatments that are being offered outside of the nhs.
When a drug that needs a prescription is involved (anti-wrinkle injections, weight loss, filler dissolving enzyme, steroids/antibiotics/prescription hormones), please do the following checks:

*Product: look at the product, is it a licensed uk legal product?
Visit www.medicines.org.uk and enter in the name like
'Botox' 'Azzalure' etc.
Is the writing in English, or over-labelled in English?
Look at the packaging, is it contained in a nice neat box(s)? Does it look ok and in good shape. If it's prescribed for you is there a pharmacy label? Can you identify the pharmacy?

• Prescriber: Ask who the prescriber is, have their name and check them out on the regulators website to see if they are registered in this country.

Dental Professional - GDC website
Pharmacist- GPHC Website
Paramedic and Physio prescriber - HCPC website
The is necessary in aesthetics & The prescriber is actually responsible for your overall care.

*Pharmacy: Where is this drug coming from?
Identify the label or ask. Check the pharmacy out and on their website it should have;
The superintendent pharmacist name and GPHC number, plus a registered pharmacy number. If it's not clear from the website check the GPHC website who have a list of registered uk pharmacies.

*Prescribed medicines have to come via a pharmacy. If there is a legal product i.e., Botox/ Azzalure/bocouture etc then it's likely imported brands are being done so illegally, and safe passage without tampering or falsification is not guaranteed.

*This is not failsafe. Information can be falsified.
This at least gives you a start at the correct questions.
Health care professionals have a professional duty to provide this type of information if you ask. Thankfully there is a line of governance.
If anyone you approach for treatment is not forthcoming or defensive, take this as a red flag. 🚩
