LAST GAME OF THE SEASON > MISSION: AVOID RELEGATION > ✔

St Josephs 'A' (8 Points - 73 Shots) - Millwood 'A' (6 Points - 71 Shots)

What a season in the Munro Cup for both sides. Well done on your Munro Cup campaigns. Unfortunately tonight the 'A' side lost out on promotion to Barry Athletic 'A' who collected 12 points and get promoted along with Romilly 'A' to Division 1. Barry Athletic also beat Millwood at Athletic tonight, but Barry Athletic were already crowned Munro Cup Champions last week. Well done to all those 3 teams on their success this year.

The new format has certainly created something for everyone to compete for. A positive change that can only benefit bowls in the Vale. Teams that would normally just be mid-table with the 'old' format have something to work towards, potential of promotion to a higher division. For the 'A' team, there was something to fight for even in the last game. This wouldn't be the case with a 1 league structure.

A few images from the final of today's Curly Cup at Millwood. 48 players took part today in 2 leagues to end up with our finalists. Eventually won by Jeremy, Paul, David and Matt. Runners up were Andrew, Mike, Lee and Wyndham. Thanks as always to those club members who make these days possible. (Thanks Nick for the photos)

A fantastic win at home for Millwood in Division 5, as they beat Merthyr West End 'A' 14 points to 0, and by 102 shots to 51. Millwood are 3rd in the table with 1 game remaining of the season. Bargoed, who are in second place, have 2 games remaining. Bridgend Municipal are guaranteed promotion. Either Millwood or Bargoed will join them.

Millwood 'A' travelled to Ely Valley 'A' for a key game for both clubs in Division 6. Ely Valley 'A' aiming for promotion, and Millwood 'A' aiming to avoid relegation. It was commendable, and in the spirit of the game, that both teams fielded their regular 'A' teams, even though Ely Valley's first team didn't have a game, and Millwood stayed loyal to their regular 'A' team players. Ely Valley 'A' picked up 10 points, which helped their cause, and Millwood 'A' 4 points, that helped with their relegation fight. Shots were 84 to 69.

Tuesday 20th August was the Glamorgan Women's Bowling Association presentation day at Millwood. Enjoyed by all ! Many thanks to those who make such days possible, from within the club and the association itself. Thanks also to Nick for taking the photos.

A tricky day away for Millwood as they lost in Division 5, 80 shots to 66 (12 points to 2) against Bridgend Municipal. Promotion still possible but perhaps not probable as Millwood sit in 3rd place with 2 games remaining of the season and are 19 points adrift of 2nd place Bargoed.

Millwood 'A' at home, on the other hand, did their push for safety in Division 6 no harm in beating Pontyclun 'A' 76 shots to 57 (12 points to 2). Well done, and deserved. Millwood 'A' have 2 games yet to play, and their nearest contender for relegation, St Josephs 'A', have just one game remaining and that is against Millwood 'A'. Both teams tied on points at the foot of the table.

It's all to play for in Division 2 of the Munro Cup. 4 teams could be in with a shout of promotion with just one or two games remaining for each club. Romilly 'A', Rhoose, Millwood 'A' and Barry Athletic 'A' are aiming for the 2 promotion places available.

Millwood 'A' beat Cowbridge 77 shots to 45 (12 points to 2) at Millwood. Played in very good spirits.

Thanks as always to those who do things at the club to make games possible, such as green keepers, bar, food, pre-match set-up, and general helpers.

Millwood (Club Side) travelled to Cadoxton for a friendly.

Division 5: Millwood (12 points - 83 shots) - Pentyrch (2 points - 77 shots)

Another good win. Millwood remain 3rd in the table. Promotion is still possible. But other results must go our way, and we must win our last couple of games.

No 'A' team game yesterday, as it was cancelled by Ely Valley 'A', a couple of hours before the game at Ely Valley.

Millwood lost at home to Dinas Powis in the Munro Cup, 3 points to 11, 51 shots to 65 shots. They have one game left of the season, away against Barry Athletic (TBC), which was postponed earlier in the season. Barry Athletic take the title anyway, as they are too far ahead. Well done to them.

Millwood 'A' keep their promotion hopes alive with a 12 points to 2 win over Central, 77 shots to 65. Millwood 'A' have 2 games remaining, the postponed match against Barry Athletic 'A' at home (TBC), and their game against Cowbridge next Wednesday at home.

Yesterday, August 6th, was a delightful day for the club as we welcomed the Barry Veterans Society. Seventeen veterans and their partners enjoyed a coaching session, followed by refreshments and delicious cakes. The afternoon concluded with some friendly competitive ends of bowls, putting their newly acquired skills into practice. Many thanks to the club members who generously gave their time to assist with coaching, provide refreshments, run the bar, and lend a helping hand throughout the day.

Millwood 'A' (10 points -78 shots) - (4 points -63 shots) Rhiwbina 'A'

Millwood 'A' move off the bottom of Division 6 of the EWPG. Relegation can be avoided with 3 good results in our last 3 games of the season during August.

We had quite a rare 8 shots 'Hot Shots' scored on one end by Paul Clarke's rink including Nick Daniels, Dean Allen and Paul Edwards.

All rinks battled hard. Well done everyone.

It was a hard-fought game this evening as Millwood 'A' travelled to nearby Rhoose for their Munro Cup Division 2 match. Most rinks were close right up to the final few ends. Millwood winning 12 points to 2. Rhoose 63 shots - Millwood 69 shots. Great hospitality from the hosts.

On Monday 29th July Millwood BC was chosen to host the friendly fixture between the Vale of Glamorgan and Mid Glamorgan. It was a gloriously hot day, that was enjoyed by all, and the Vale edged it on points (but a customary draw was declared).

Thanks go to the outstanding work of the green keepers and gardeners at Millwood, the ladies who prepared the delicious meal after the game, the bar staff, the county organisers, those who help generally around the club and also to Nick who captured the day as the official photographer.

Millwood on the climb and up to 3rd in the table, with a great win over Harlequins 'A' yesterday. A promotion place still possible, with 4 games remaining.

Harlequins A (2-66) - (12-99) Millwood

Millwood 'A', relegation can still be avoided with a great result against Penarth 'A' yesterday, and if we win our remaining 4 games. Still remaining bottom of the division.

Millwood A (11-62) - (3-58) Penarth A

Success for both of our teams last night. Millwood remain 3rd in Division 1. Millwood 'A' 4th in Division 2.

Millwood 'A' travelled the short distance to Romilly 'A' to play their Division 6 match. The game went ahead in the rain, due to the green being playable, and in good condition. Barry Romilly 'A' (12 points - 66 shots) - Millwood 'A' (2 points - 37 shots). Millwood had a friendly against St Fagans, and was declared a draw, with an enjoyable afternoon of bowls, despite the rain.

18/07/2024

It was a good evening for both teams in the Munro Cup, winning at home and away. A dominant performance at home: Millwood ( 14 points ) 117-34 ( 0 points ) Belle Vue. A great battle away to make it: Barry Romilly A ( 4 points ) 61-65 ( 10 points ) Millwood A. Millwood maintain 3rd spot in Division 1, and Millwood 'A sit mid-table in Division 2. Link to table and other results: https://millwoodbc.co.uk/south-vale-competitions/

14/07/2024

Millwood continue their push for promotion, and are 3rd in the table, with just 7 points separating the top 3. 2 teams will be promoted at the end of the season. (Millwood: 14 points - 111 shots) - (Barry Athletic 'A': 0 points - 45 shots). A great win.

Millwood 'A' travelled to nearby Penarth Windsor and despite 1 rink winning and another drawing, and with just 3 shots difference, we only came away with 3 points. (Windsor 'A': 11 points -76 shots) - (Millwood 'A': 3 points - 73 shots).
