Our aim is to engage with our community stakeholders from police to the council to our MP to bring about the necessary discussions towards gaining a system that serves all equally.
Ahead of Race Unity Day which is also our anniversary 🎉🥂 we wanted to share some history about the day.
Started by the Bahá’í National Spiritual Assembly, Race Unity Day celebrates racial harmony and promotes the embrace of our ever-increasing diversity. It is observed on the second Sunday of June.
Last year we joined Brighton Hill Community School who observed the day in a special way encouraging learning, cultural awareness and unity. Today we’re unable to join you but send our very best wishes for a very successful day! 🥳
Racism isn't just a cultural issue; it affects legal, economic, and political systems, creating inequalities in education, wealth, and civil rights.
Join us in celebrating and fostering racial harmony everyday! 💛🤝
It's truly devastating to hear about the senseless tragedy involving Daniel Anjorin and the injuries inflicted on others, including brave police officers by Marcus Monzo in the North-East London sword attack. The questions of 'how?' and 'why?' echo in our minds as we grapple with the incomprehensible nature of such violence.
As we await justice for Daniel and the others affected, it's essential to reflect on the impact our actions have on one another. From making and amending rules and policies to speaking up and taking action, we must keep fostering a culture of empathy, understanding, and community support to prevent such heartbreaking incidents.
Working on Stop and Search with some officers at Basingstoke Cops gives us insight into the risks they take everyday on our behalves. We want to acknowledge the immense bravery displayed by our police officers who confront danger daily to keep our streets safe.
Daniel was just a 14-year old boy going to school. How many parents will be even more worried? How many more children and youth will be severely impacted by his death? How will injured officers and their families cope? How will all affected and closely impacted manage? How will blades be rid off on our streets?
There is something peculiar and safe about humanity. It is that empathy prevails. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to everyone.
Thank you to Scott Johnson and the team in Basingstoke for your support over the last four years.
Happy Mother’s Day to all our wonderful mothers out there. We appreciate you. 💐
🌺 Happy Mother's Day to our incredible mothers! Your strength, love, and resilience are the cornerstones of our families and the inspiration for generations to come. May your day be filled with joy, appreciation, and the warmth of the love you've so generously given.
Honoured to meet T/Deputy Assistant Commissioner Dr. Alison Heydari, leading the way as Programme Director for the Police Race Action Plan.
Last year, team BUAR couldn’t pass on nominating her for the Saluting Our Sisters and I was thrilled to finally present her with it in person. Leaders like her are an inspiration and her leadership breathes confidence in the success of the Race Action Plan.
Last week, alongside other stakeholders, progress and needs were discussed at a community event. I was privileged to speak at this event and share our programme; Stop and Search Awareness and Advocacy Programme. There are so many other incredible initiatives ongoing across the nation. Together, let's continue the journey towards a more inclusive and just future in policing.

Sending warm wishes to you and your families this festive season.
Team BUAR’s Jojo Blankson not forgetting what his mama taught him. 👌🏾
Respect and honouring our elders are two core principles deeply ingrained in our culture, values that we hold dear and never compromise on. It was a heartwarming experience to witness these principles in action all around.
Another great session with our young people this week Brighton Hill Community School with students from Basingstoke College of Technology in attendance.
The team from Basingstoke Cops put them at ease very quickly and students were engaged with understanding the stop and search power, how to remain calm and respectful and experience some of the hear the officers use everyday.
Brighton Hill Community School students in attendance who form their Race Equality Group will in the spring help educate up to 1300 more students on the powers as part of ongoing efforts by the school to foster better relationships and become an anti racist school.
We are pleased to see the holistic approach and collaboration working and making impact. Feedback from students reflected a noteworthy advancement, with 83.33% of the students rating their knowledge post workshop between 4 and 5 having come in with little to no knowledge. We look forward to our next session of the year.

🎶 Kudos to these talented youngsters from St. Bede's Catholic School! Last week, they wowed us with their captivating musical performances, showcasing their incredible talents. Huge applause to the students, their supportive parents, and the school for nurturing these musical stars. They were a fantastic addition to our awards and celebration evening! 🌟🎻
Praying compassion and hope for peace in Israel and Palestine. Together, we can build a future where empathy triumphs over conflict. 🕊️✨

We had a fantastic session of Our Stop and Search Awareness Workshop at Basingstoke College of Technology yesterday. Thanks to the team Tamara and Mo who championed this one. This is the second session held at BCOT and we were pleased to have very engaged students.
The workshops form part of a holistic approach we are taking in collaboration with Hampshire Constabulary and Queen Mary’s College to educate our young people on the powers and foster better community cohesion especially with our police force. Many thanks to the police officers who were brilliant and the leadership especially here in Basingstoke Basingstoke Cops who from day one jumped in and were more than ready to respond to this need. Two years on and going strong.

Yesterday at Brighton Hill Community School, we had a brilliant time celebrating our 3rd Anniversary with some cake and engagement with the yellow army young people.
We also shared the day with our new Stop and Search lead PC Abby. With two youth workshops coming up it was brilliant to see how she got stuck in straight away.
Three years in the game and great partnerships formed. We can’t complain.

We are three today! Thank you for journeying with us! The road is long and hard, but we remain faithful to the cause. Today, we are spending the day celebrating by reflecting and supporting a great initiative by Brighton Hill Community School ahead of Race Unity Day - 11th June. It is amazing to see our schools taking matters of inclusion and the celebration of diversity in this meaningful way.
Long may it continue.
