Back to our favourite outdoor group! 🌲 ☀️ 🍂

BLACKBERRIES!! The last couple of weeks have been alllllll about the blackberries! We’ve enjoyed what nature has to offer (I swear every year they grow earlier and earlier, it used to be an October thing..?) We picked them, and made some delicious treats! 🌿🪻

CREEPY CRAWLIES!!!🐛🦎🕷️🐍 throughout the week we have been exploring bugs! We have been on bug hunts in the garden and at the farm, we’ve read lots of bug books too. 🦋 Today we had Kris from come to visit us and he brought some little creatures with him! We learnt all about centipedes, tortoises, tarantulas, snakes and a bearded dragon! We got to touch and hold them and the children loved the experience! WILD GARLIC 🧄 🌱 We ventured off into the woods and found some wild garlic, we made both pesto and garlic butter! YUM! 😋

NO AVAILABILITY ‼️ I always find it so overwhelming when so many people message asking for childcare. I’ve had 12 messages over the past week! So apologies if I don’t answer messages/emails straight away. Lovely to hear I’m recommended ect, it means a lot to a little business owner like me🥰 This does leave me a little worried as since the funding has come in, (I don’t offer it) childcare settings are mostly full and families are struggling to find any spaces! …I did predict this and I do worry for the future. (For myself too).

ICE PLAY 🧊 🐧 🐻‍❄️ 🐳 🦭 🧊 The children have been exploring the animals that live in cold environments, along with ice and snow. We worked together to lift and smash up the giant block of ice that formed in our wheelbarrow, the children took joy in jumping up and down on it, laughing and giggling together. We then created mini homes out of the ice and magnets for our arctic animals.

This week the children got to use tools including a saw and a drill to create beautiful decorations! We safely held the saw together to chop the wood, then painted them and made them festively sparkly! We then chose a little Christmas tree for our setting 🎄 ❄️

Campfire treats 🪵🔥🍡 We worked together to find logs for our fire, we built them up and talked about how hot the fire would be and that we must not touch. The marshmallows were very yummy and gooey! 🥰

October was so fun! 🍂

Apple picking! 🍎 This week we took a couple of trips to the Orchard next to our farm 🥰 Lots of language used, “Apple” “Up high” “reach” “help Hannah” “more” “basket” plus lots of giggles when they fell from the trees! We filled the basket and made a delicious spiced apple loaf and some apple crumble 🥧 🍞 🍎🥰

The hardest part of the job is saying goodbye 👋🏼 😭 💔 I’ve looked after these girlys for 2 years and since they were little dots! Now they are the most resilient, happy, giggly, funny and caring young ladies who are more than ready to head off on their new adventures! 🥹🥰 I’ll miss listening to the role play with dolls, taking strolls in the woods, our outdoor group, baking cakes, sneaky soft plays and cake, showing you the farm animals and dancing around the living room with ribbons! Today we built dens and had a picnic and played with all of our favourite toys. I love that you have become best of friends!👧🏻👧🏼 I’ll miss you girlys 💞

SPACE AVAILABLE 💫 A rare space has become available, for a child to join the muddyboots gang in September. 9am-3pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I am making my way through the waiting list but might be worth getting in touch if these hours are suitable 🥰

The bird garden watch is this weekend! We took the opertujoty to go on a walk with our binoculars, searching for different birds, then made mini bird houses and pine one bird feeders for our gardens! 🌳 🕊️

Have you even been to the woods if you don’t leave looking like this? 🌲🤣 We enjoyed exploring the trees and dens, balancing on logs and climbing the stumps! We waved to the squirrels and got a little muddy in the process! Squirrel 🐿️ 🌲 🪵

🎶🌲Oh Christmas treeeeee 🌲 🎶 Today we took a trip down to our farm where we have fields of Christmas tree’s growing. 🌲 We took the fallen sprigs and created a tree picture! So simple but they look so cute! 🎄We then had a yummy hot chocolate to warm us up whilst im the frosty air! ☕️ 🧊 🥶

Cheesy pumpkin biscuits! 🎃🧀 A great way to use up your pumpkins! We didn’t measure but we used plain flour, salted butter, Red Leicester cheese, a few table spoons of puréed pumpkin, and a pinch of paprika, baked for around 15 mins until golden/crispy 👩🏻‍🍳 👌🏼 🎃 🧀 They lasted around 10 minutes and they’d miraculously disappeared! Luckily I saved a few to put in Theos snack box for school! 👀
