I first saw an Axolotl when looking for new fish to add to my son’s aquarium. I fell in love with these little creatures as soon as I set eyes upon them, and knew I just had to own one. Having said that, I did not make a purchase there and then... I went and done some research. The more research I done, the more fascinated I became.

Then one day, while browsing Facebook, I came across 3 needing a new home. Having kept tanks for fish already this enabled me to jump at the opportunity of owning them. I re-arranged my tanks to make one available for the Axolotl. I was told at the time I would be taking on 3 males, this meant I could keep them all in the same tank...bonus! However...after 2 weeks of owning them it was apparent at least one was a female. How did I know? I came home to eggs...a lot of eggs. I turned to Facebook once again for help.

I found loads of groups that are full of Axolotl Enthusiasts like myself and made posts asking how I can raise the eggs. Majority of the time I was shot down, told I would not be able to raise the eggs as I was new to keeping Axolotl and that this in its self was a challenge. Luckily there was one lady who was willing to help.

I successfully raised the next batch of eggs and they all have been re-homed all over the UK. I now pride myself on helping where possible and never turn anyone away. The experience was INCREDIBLE and I loved every minute. Its a journey I hope never ends.
