Back in the swing of it all and back with this little shadow. Our Chipoo Baby is great fun on shoots. He loves the camera thanks to whom has trained him for his closeup!

He wouldn’t leave my side back on this shoot and it’s made some lovely snaps for me to keep close.

I can’t imagine a life without a dog now that I’ve had a few bring me so much joy and love 💕over the years. It is a pretty special kind of friendship that leaves such a gap when they leave you.

Cheers to all the four legged pups 🐾 that have put a smile on our faces and now for a search through the reels on insta to find cute dog videos that make me laugh 😂

Making my way home to this snug little room to unwind and crank up the fire.

This snap is from the Summer, and what I love about this space is that it works all year.

In the Summer we open the doors and let all the fresh flow of any passing breeze move through the room. In Winter it’s my hibernation room. I close the wooden shudders and crank that fire up to make it dark and moody. The leather sofa from is cool and welcome on a hot day of Summer, but in Winter it lets me flop in with a faux fur throw and usually a puppy on my lap to complete the hibernation vibe.

When you work a room design it is important to consider not just how you use it, but how you use it in different seasons. I find that this room is successful for us because it keeps cool in the summer with wood floors that soothe bare feet, and in Winter the heavy woven wallpaper hugs me with enveloping comfort… each design choice for Summer has a counter for Winter that level out how it can ride the seasons and invite me in.

With the month of January behind me and the new opportunity of a new year ahead of me I am feeling energised and focused.

Our little pub on the corner just had a pretty major overhaul for the interior by opening walls and tripling the size of our bar! I’ve also assisted in updating our tables, menu design, and as always with anything I do… it’s a work in progress that I am looking forward to adding even more layers to over the next months. However, it’s fully back open tomorrow from 10! So come have a look and enjoy!

Our store has been thriving with our first finalists announcement yesterday! We are still plugging away at the website and after a successful jaunt to Paris we have even more fabulous finds to introduce into our Write this Way zone of the store and come late Spring our children’s collection will launch!

On top of it all the Boltholes are ticking along with bookings through and in another month our third property will be available for more luxury visits in Bath!

When all the dust settles I look forward to monitoring the details of life better, but for now I will just keep putting one foot in front of the other and carry on building this vision of what our little world of Always Sunday can be.

Anyone else spending too much time in the kitchen with these short days and cold weather?

and see that pastry’s been calling me in.. especially those little Xmas gingerbread cookies that have found there way to my heart!

Tomorrow I’m going back to my 5am starts for some much needed ME moment! It’s been a whirlwind trying to regroup myself these last weeks and this is the next step in getting me whole!

I spoke about upping the H20 and putting down those champagne coups in favour of sparkling water… and this has been helping me tremendously with anxiety and energy.

However, I’ve not been in a consistent movement plan for months. So tomorrow starts my commitment to 30 minutes or more everyday of moving or stretching. Low or high impact, but movement for my body, mind, and mood!

Anyone want to join me?
Give a wave in the comments or a hell ya if you want to make a move for YOU. We can all benefit from a daily dose of endorphins 🥰 * I’m not suggesting everyone starts at 5am, but I’ve got a sweet spot for that totally quiet world!

IF I was going to bring a book on holiday to read what would you suggest?

IF we at Always Sunday made a book club would you join it?

I never read books anymore, but last summer I did pick up a collection of short essays from Monocule magazine and adored it. So I’m looking for inspirational reading that I could dive into for a long flight. Thanks in advance for the help!

Meanwhile I’m going to have a snoop for some books to put into our store as well. I’m on the hunt for books that don’t just look pretty on a coffee table, but activate a mind to action…so any books you think we should stock wing them in the comments below too!

Sundays in bed newest addition No 12, with magazines and my new favourite loungewear now in stock .

I’ve got an announcement soon speaking of magazines so stay tuned. 👀

Photos from Always Sunday's post 05/10/2022

I’ve been waking at 3am for the last week every night. Obviously it’s not ideal, but it also means that my brain activates and as I do that dance of trying to fall back asleep I think of all sorts.

This morning it was about Thanksgiving. Yes, I’m American and aware I don’t live in America anymore. However, I do love celebrating this holiday… albeit a few days late since we don’t get a Thursday off here.

I was thinking all about how important the act of opening up the doors to our home to invite family and friends to join us around a table is something I really enjoy.

I started Always Sunday in this very room with a supper club. We had some old vintage beer garden tables back then instead of this fabulous massive extending table we now use.

It’s important for me to keep this room flexible though and with that it means a table that can be moved in and out. This one breaks down into two side tables or it can seat nearly 22!

Having the flexibility means I can use this room as a disco, theatre, art exhibition, performance space, yoga studio, and more because we have done all of this in here! Why not change the way you use a dining room. Don’t design one out of your life and buck the trend of getting rid of the least used room for only in kitchen dining, but reconfigure the possibility of what a dining room can do other than just dinner on a holiday.

I found this table at a reclamation yard and I’ve not done anything to it yet, but I think when I scrape some time together I plan to do some gold leaf across the top in a abstract way.

Probably another thing for me to think about at 3am tomorrow morning.

Autumn 🍂 or as I say Fall has totally arrived here.

I’ve got the fire on… new electric blankets fitted on the beds, and my red wine stock is at its peak!

This is my favourite time of year. I live for the crisp sunny days where the air is cool but your skin is warm under those last drops of sun before hibernation.

I’m a Michigan girl and this time of year had so many traditions from football games, 🍎 and 🎃 picking, hayrides, and especially warm apple cider (not the boozy kind!) with fresh warm cinnamon and sugar doughnuts! It’s my favourite time to visit my old hometown for all of these things!

This year we are too bogged down with adulting (work) to sneak over and skip a few days of school for a Halloween 👻, but never say never for next year!

To get me in the mood for fall we watched Hocus Pocus 1 last night and will be starting today with a soggy dog walk, trip to our pub for that award winning roast, and maybe a waddle to town to collect some new Halloween decorations (slim pickings in 🇬🇧 tbh) then come back to decorate and prepare for the reveal of Hocus Pocus 2! 🧙‍♀️

How do you get ready for the season to change? Any favourite traditions I should be adding to our UK life that we don’t do in the US?

The end of outdoor dinners and coffee in the garden is coming on swiftly.

Now it’s time to focus on keeping toes warm on our heated floor (waited a very long time for that luxury in this house…7 years) and tonight I’ve even put the fire on in our bedroom.

I love Autumn, but it did feel like Summer went in a blur this year. Maybe it was the ability to travel again freely and that we tried to manage everything whilst we did? Who knows, but the longer nights and snuggly sweaters are definitely calling me.

Today I spent another fabulous day with a creative behind the lens of these snaps . We worked on images of the newest No.12 and some really relaxed snaps of the newest loungewear line to launch .

There is so much to show you from our new arrivals and yet all I can share for now is my kitchen which is my sanity and hub of our family office you could say… the original HQ of everything Always Sunday!

Today is historic and it’s a somber one, but I am grateful to this country for inspiring me to believe that I could make a new life for myself here.

I personally have found the Queen’s leadership inspiring and as a mum of a gaggle of girls and some growing boys I wish they could have seen more of her reign to remember. However, her legacy that a woman should be listened to, respected, and can be an incredible leader and role model is cemented in today’s tribute to her.

Hats off to our Queen and maybe I’ll see you at the pub today to watch this historic moment together.

The nights are getting colder and it’s almost time to retreat here in the evenings for a snuggle on the sofa and to light the fire.

I was sad to see the last apples are finished on our trees, but then the idea of cozy nights is definitely drawing me in.

How are you feeling about the approach of Autumn? Do you have a favourite spot in your house for different seasons?

There will be so much to share and I cannot wait, but for now I’m indulging in a Bath in Bath that my daughters organised for me along with a bath bomb they bought me over two years ago (that’s how rare it is I grab these moments 🤦🏼‍♀️) and now cue bliss.

You might find me here tomorrow morning for a little moment after I drop the last ones off to the start of a new school year.

This was a linen closet when I bought the house, and it’s at the top of our landing in between bedrooms and the family bathroom.

I thought it worked as a perfect dreamy window seat, storage for blankets, and an opportunity to gather books from art exhibits, fashion inspirations, and general books of interest that I enjoy.

I also hoped it would make a entertaining waiting bench for those upcoming teen years when some of our kids are going to have to wait patiently for a turn in the bathroom!

I particularly love the view from this nook, and how the vintage chandelier gives it a touch of glam. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

We are ALMOST there..

Back to school shopping is DONE.

By the end of this week we should have 5 children back in a routine and maybe just maybe we will somehow get a few brain cells retrieved to activate in time before half term hits! Maybe?!

It’s been a whirlwind amazing Summer and I will share some of the excitement here when I catch up on the backlog of work, but can you believe it’s September??

Lots of projects ahead make me feel overwhelmed and excited in the same intake, but this space is my resolution.

I will share more before and after vibes when I dig back through the years, but let’s just celebrate that Summer is closing with opportunity ahead!

I like Monday a lot more when it’s as chill as Saturday and Sunday. - said everyone

My favourite tipple these days is a dirty martini and I cannot tell you how much this swanky bar we installed ups the stay home vibes when I can make my favourite cocktails at home!

I’ve used a lot of my in home design inspiration from commercial spaces I’ve visited. Our cocktail lounge made more sense to me than a formal living room as it had been presented previously.

The social space means we can entertain guests or just ourselves with access to our balcony and a joining open flow to the formal dining room.

I worked with .co.uk to help me design our own onyx backlight bar with custom brass bar shelving and floating glass. I’m hoping to add some mirror and more lighting eventually, but so far this has been one of the boldest additions that has provided some pretty special memories in a short time… I got engaged 💍 here! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

If you could create a hideaway that still feels like home… what would it look like?

This is mine. A rustic Sheppard Hut shell amplified with some of the same luxe features I used in our home design.

I love the way it’s hidden in the area of our garden that was unused and deep with pines. I’m a Michigan girl who grew up spending Summers in Northern Michigan amongst pines like these in wood cabins.

When I come into this space I feel like I’ve taken so many elements from my history and collaborated it with my current design beliefs which are all based around a juxtaposition of fine materials against the rustic shape of a wood and metal hut in the woods.

We had this space created by using a flat pack delivery from and then Jonny from .co.uk helped me replicate a mini concept of the house by using wallpaper from which I had used other papers from their collection in the main house already, marble because I think I have an addiction after doing our kitchen, and using .h.fabrications to help us make a custom table with brass and metal to emulate ideas from the kitchen table he converted in the house.

We haven’t had many guests just yet, but we have spent a few sleeps out here and can’t believe what an escape it feels despite just being in our own garden in the middle of Bath!

Never leave a corner of your home or garden under-utilised because you never know how much more it could bring to your life if you don’t explore it’s potential!

Sometimes it’s just all about collecting what you love without planning exactly how!

This is one collection that welcomes people to our home and I find it a great preview to all the juxtapositions of design that I go for!

This is a pure collision of vintage meets beautiful artwork. The paintings are portraits done by a local artist who captured the last window of my youngest leaving babyhood and the oldest entering girlhood. All the quirky porcelain dogs remind me of my band of wild children we have! Our mantle is one I found at a vintage market that was possibly from a private estate chapel France… so I’m told?!
What have you welcomed visiting guest to your home with that says something about you?

Swipe to see my actual take on juggling Summer. Cue resting bitch face of contemplating exactly how do I juggle this and make some memories for the family which is not just my united brood of 5, a pooch, and a very patient fiancé, but also all of our Always Sunday family?

Every Summer I am thrilled to kickoff the alfresco lifestyle and indulge in having longer pockets with our Bath Brady Bunch, but I also get into a state of planning and panicking that can nearly overtake it all.

Am I the only one?

I watch my kids life the life of bliss like everyday is another holiday, but I’m thinking did I plan enough for them and did I actually finish not just the laundry loads of swimmers and towels, but did I reply to ANY emails?

If there was no Always Sunday family I would be in full meltdown at this point and I am really grateful for the compassion our company has for us when they can see the panic face I wear on the end of term day!

If you see a few less posts on our gram accounts it’s because it’s mostly just me and I’m juggling, but full sanity will return (ish) come September. ⁣

Burdalls is destined to become the newest creative hub in Bath. Space for reasonable hire rates to host your own creative course or to take part in anything from acting, painting, to yoga. Check out the Burdalls site for what’s coming this September when we officially re-open the space after our renovations to the bar area begin in mid August.

Always Sunday House

As the founder of Always Sunday I often am asked why and how did I get started. It began with a history of many different passions and journeys meeting interesting people in my life. I found that my love for sharing my table with those who could inspire me wasn’t my love alone. I started a supper club without any idea of logistics or even restaurant experience. I started it with soul and gave myself 3 weeks to drag a few loving believers along with me as the first creative collaborators of Always Sunday.

The team and I began to produce and evolve into more than supper clubs. An interest in my ability to style a space combined with all the incredible installations Nicole of Flowers by Blomme created and our regular rotation of visiting chefs and gallery installations of varied artists from near and far created the space.

What came next was the ever growing support of different people experiencing our belief. I set out to promote and showcase creatives. Give a platform that was welcoming and unique to share their talents with the public. Using instagram to take our events into a digital space allowed a modern art salon to develop.

With all the interest and soon a loyal following we launched a retail store. Hired our incredible Bella to lead us into the challenging and thrilling world of a store front. Taking our same belief of showcasing and promoting; has allowed us to curate an eclectic range of items for customers to take some of our favourite finds home.
