Parenting is hard. Parents have to choose their battles. Here are 8 fights worth picking with your kids:
The Reading Fight:
Make your kids read. Because reading is tied to everything from cognitive development to the ability to focus. Make your kids read now.
The Outside Fight:
Make your kids go outside. The natural world teaches us things. Plus, outside there's sunshine, fresh air, and exercise waiting for them. Most importantly, nature is full of things in short supply in our world: Discovery, wonder, peace, joy.
The Work Fight:
Make your kids work. I’m saddened by how many parents don’t require their kids to lift a finger at home. There are priceless life principles you can only learn with a mop in your hand. Let sweat be their teacher.
The Meal Fight:
Make your kids eat as a family. Our lives are a blur of incessant activity. Meals together are a physical pause to recover a truth so easily sacrificed at the altar of busyness. Nothing's more important than family.
The Boredom Fight:
Make your kids live with boredom. Don't show a DVD on each car ride. Kids need unscheduled time. And, odd as it sounds, boredom is a skill. It's hard as a parent to deal with the assault of boredom complaints. But if you give in and fill up their time with external stimuli, you'll raise an activity addict. Make them learn how to be.
The "Me First" Fight:
Make your kids go last. Not every time for everything. But enough to remember that the world doesn't revolve around them. Take the smallest piece. Give up the remote. Do someone else's chores. Get their least favorite choice. They won't like it, but they need it.
The Awkward Conversation Fight:
Make your kids have uncomfortable conversations with you. S*x, dating, body image, values...Your kids will roll their eyes and resist. You will stumble and stutter. They need and want your perspective, lessons learned, and wisdom.
The Limitation Fight:
Learning to live within limits is a valuable life skill. In fact, many adult problems arise from an inability to accept them. Screen time limits, dietary limits, activity limits, and schedule limits are all good.
As a parent, you have to pick your battles. They're not easy, but they're worth the fight.

Blessed for yet another new day. I have many reasons to be happy and appreciate everything I have in my life. I am grateful to have eyes to see the squirrels jumping on a fence, the sun shining and the beauty of trees… to have the love and comfort of my fabulous family… the welcome of friends when I come to visit… I have so many things to be grateful for now and I know there are more to come…
I am sitting here smiling and counting all my many blessings.

A young lady sat in a bus. At the next stop a loud and grumpy old lady came and sat by her.
She squeezed into the seat and bumped her with her numerous bags.
The person sitting on the other side of the young lady got upset, asked her why she did not speak up and say something.
The young lady responded with a smile:
"It is not necessary to be rude or argue over something so insignificant, the journey together is so short. I get off at the next stop."
If each of you realised that your time here is so short; that to squander it with quarrels & arguments, being unforgiving to yourself and others, feeling discontented and dissatisfied is wasting your precious time and energy. 🌟
Whatever troubles anyone brings you, remember that your journey together is so short and that it is better to be kind than right.🌟

Take care in what you consume…

According to Eastern medicines whether Indian, Chinese, Tibetan or Thai, the left side of the body is totally different from the right side. Even some Buddhist monastic traditions include within their precepts for monks to sleep on their left side. Although it sounds weird resting and sleeping on the left side has many health benefits.
Lymph drains to the left.
The left side of the body is the dominant side in the lymphatic system. Most of the lymph drains down to the chest duct located on the left side. In its path, the lymph carries proteins, glucose metabolites and waste products that are purified by the lymph nodes to be drained left side.
Derived from the above it is common to infer from Eastern medicine that conditions on the left side of the body may be due to chronic congestion of the lymphatic system.
The Priorities of the Body.
According to Ayurveda congestion happens in the body following certain priorities. If the lymphatic system is co-managed, afterwards the liver and blood are saturated with toxic substances. Primary symptoms of congestion appear on the left side of the body before moving to the right side where they appear later.
Hangover after a meal?
The Indian suggestion is that if you take a break after eating do it by lying on the left side. The rest should not exceed 10 minutes and is different from the evening nap which is usually 20 minutes or more.
Stomach and pancreas hanging to the left side. When you lie on your left side both hang naturally allowing for optimal and efficient digestion. Food is driven to move naturally through the stomach and pancreatic enzymes are secreted gradually and not in one stroke, which happens if you lie on the right side.
When you lie on the left side your liver and gallbladder hang from the right side. Left side resting allows them to hang and secret their precious enzymes into the digestive tract, emulsifying fats and neutralizing stomach acids.
When the digestive system is stimulated in this way your digestive cycle is shorter and doesn't leave you stranded for the rest of the afternoon. Try resting 10 minutes on your left side after eating.
Feel energized and not tired after eating.
Try to eat relaxed in the middle of the day and don't forget to rest on your left side and check that you will feel more energized and with better digestion.
The magic of sleeping on the left side.
Better cut down.
The small intestine releases toxins through the ileocecal valve (VIC) on the right side of the body at the beginning of the colon. The large intestine travels down the right side of your body, crosses your abdomen and descends down the left side.
Through VIC, sleeping on the left side allows gravity to stimulate body waste into the colon from the small intestine more easily.
As the night passes and continue sleeping on your left side debris moves more easily towards the descending colon and morning removal will be easier.
Much better heart function.
More than 80% of the heart is on the left side of the body. If you sleep on the left side the lymph drained to the heart will be driven by gravity taking work off your heart while you sleep.
The aorta, which is the largest artery of the body, emerges from the upper part of the heart and arches to the left before descending to the abdomen. When sleeping on the left side, the heart pumps blood more easily into the descending aorta.
Sleeping on the left side allows the intestines to move away from the cava vein that carries the blood back to the heart. Noticeably the cava vein rests on the right side of the thorn, so when you lie on the left side the viscera move away from the cava veen. Again gravity makes heart work easier.
The spleen is on the left side.
The spleen is part of the lymphatic system and is also on the left side of the body. Its function is that of a large lymph node that filters the lymph and additionally filters the blood. When you lie on the left side the return of fluids to the pelvis is easier and happens more easily due to gravity.
The lymphatic system drains all the cells in the body through contractions and muscle movement and not through heart pumping. Helping the lymph drain to the pelvis and heart with gravity is a simple way to purify your body.
And though there are no scientific protocols about it, sleeping on the left side makes sense. Understanding ancestral wisdom based on knowledge of modern anatomy clears up many doubts about the reasons you have in the East to sleep a certain way.
