~ 101 Community Kitchen Fundraising Campaign ~

101 Donegall St is home to a number of groups that form ‘The 101 Community’ including Redeemer Central — a diverse and vibrant church community, The Long Table — a free, weekly community meal, and Anaka Women’s Collective — a charity supporting and advocating for women and children navigating the asylum system.

The building is used daily with over 300 people through its doors each week through a variety of events or activities. Together our shared vision is to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive place that feels like home, where people know they matter and they belong.

As with old, heritage buildings there is plenty of work and upkeep needed and one of the biggest challenges at present is that unfortunately the kitchen facilities are not fit for purpose.

• We would like to completely refurbish and install a new, professional-grade kitchen to allow the current activities to both continue and expand even further.

• So far we have raised £31k from our target total of £45k.

• This is where you can help! We are running this fundraising campaign and we’d love your help to reach our target!! Anything you can give or contribute would be greatly appreciated and help begin a new chapter for us. 🙏

AGREEMENT Exhibition • Open to the public this weekend. Everyone welcome.

In partnership with ImageNation NI we are honored to extend an invitation to you for the exhibition of AGREEMENT by artist Amanda Dunsmore at Redeemer Central, 101 Donegall Street, Belfast, 1-6pm on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th November, with a special performance by ImageNation NI members from 4-5.30pm on Saturday 25th November.

AGREEMENT has been 20 years in the making and features silent video portraits of 14 political figures who negotiated the Belfast Good Friday Agreement.

Featuring many familiar faces from Nobel Laureates John Hume and David Trimble to Monica McWilliams and Pearl Sagar, the World Premiere of a new digital portrait of Mo Mowlam created using machine learning and archive video from RTÉ, these leaders in the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement remain silent in this installation, leaving visitors an opportunity to consider their own position on the last twenty-five years.

The exhibition provides a unique and contemplative space, inviting visitors into quiet and open conversations that allow for the exploration of the possibilities for agreement.

ImageNation NI is one of five community groups working with quarto collective to host the artwork for a short period. In doing so, the communities will explore what it takes to come to agreement and what the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement means to people today. This project has been made possible by by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, in partnership with Ulster Presents at Ulster University.

In addition to the visual exhibition, there will be refreshments and a special performance by members of the Indian community, further adding to the cultural tapestry of the event.

Today we had a brilliant morning with fellow members from the North Belfast Cluster () exploring themes of identity & place in North Belfast and all the opportunities and challenges as we continue to work together to promote the shared heritage and history of North Belfast and help drive regeneration.

The workshop was beautifully facilitated by Quarto and we’re looking forward to our next sessions to take our conversation and planning further.

It was lovely to be in the beautiful Clifton House today. Mary Ann McCracken opened the 1st creche in Belfast in 1820. What a woman. We can't wait to provide our pop-up creche for Mary Ann McCracken Foundation up and coming events.

A little history about 101 on this day in 1931…

in 1931, Donegall Street Congregational in , burnt down in a devastating fire. The alarm was raised by a night porter working in the Metropole Hotel, which previously sat on the site of the new Ulster University Campus. Believed to have started in the boiler house in the rear of the building, the fire took 2 ½ hours to get under control and left only the external walls standing. It would be a further three years before the church was once again opened as a place of worship.
