Today is a very sad day as the beautiful Poppy (seen above) has gained her angel wings 👼.

We were wanting to re-share these images of Poppy receiving her Bravery Package and put up a post dedicated to her as she was the very first recipient of our Bravery Packages and part of the inspiration behind us creating this service.

I had known of Poppy and her Mum for a while as Poppy has the same condition as me. In 2018 we sent her one of our cards. She was going through a particularly rough patch at the time and I was really wanting to do something more for her, on top of the card. Poppy’s bravery and courage always inspired me. I decided to put a care package together for her, full of items she would enjoy and would bring a smile to her face. We also included a few items for her sister Coral to make sure she also received something as the siblings are often forgotten about.

At the time I thought it would be a one-off project but seeing how happy it made Poppy and her sister made me want to try do it for more children living with longer term health conditions. This sparked the creation of “Bravery Packages”, an important highlight for the charity as it was our first expansion outside of distributing the handmade cards.

Over the years we have kept in touch with Poppy and her family, sending her over a few small pick-me-up’s here and then.

After receiving a life-saving multi visceral transplant in 2014, Poppy was able to enjoy life more and live with less symptoms. Unfortunately after 10 years, Poppy’s body began rejecting her transplanted organs. Earlier this year, she received another chance at life and had a second multi visceral transplant. Poppy sadly experience a lot of complications this time, and passed in the early hours of the morning.
Poppy truly was the definition of “brave”.

The children and young people we support are at the centre of the charity and helping children like Poppy is why we do what we do.
We are sending so much love to her family at this time.

Please also take this as a reminder to register for organ donation if you are able too🙏🏻 you can help children like Poppy receive a second chance at life.

- Katie ✨
