EB01 and EB02 have had a busy 24 hours with 5 jobs attended between them both including 2 serious road traffic collisions, a cardiac arrest and 2 major traumas across East and West Dorset.
Both our doctors are volunteers and respond in their own vehicles in their own time. Please consider donating to support this vital service.
We have 2 trustee positions available for our charity - please get in touch if interested in one of these positions to chat through. Ideally those with charity experience but happy to hear from anyone interesting in helping us continue to save lives in Dorset.
Merry Christmas from EB01 who has been logged on in West Dorset today.
(We’re sure EB02 wishes you a merry Christmas too!)
EB01 was first on scene to this patient. Great multi-agency working on scene, it wasn’t an easy extrication! Great to hear Patrick is slowly recovering.
EB01 was on scene to assist with the casualty from the 3rd tasking that Swanage Lifeboat Station attended yesterday. Many thanks to the crew for excellent casualty care in very difficult conditions and a great handover to a very soggy doctor!
We’re very grateful for this donation to allow us to buy life-saving equipment. Thank you to Help Appeal - County Air Ambulance Trust and British Association for Immediate Care
Hospital Helipads for air ambulance helicopters – HELP Appeal We fund helipads close to hospital Emergency Departments to ensure air ambulance patients receive lifesaving treatment within the Golden Hour. Support us today.

Today EB01 & EB02 attended a major incident exercise involving a number of different scenarios alongside DWFireRescue Wessex Rescue Wessex 4x4 Response Dorset Police Rapid Relief Team UK South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs and probably others not mentioned!
Here EB02 teaches the teams about crush injuries following extrication of a patient trapped in water under a tree.
Great day for multi-agency teamwork and learning alongside a whole host of Dorset-based volunteers.
Great multi-agency working today!
Today, the team, along with Dorset Police DWFireRescue Maritime and Coastguard Agency Wessex 4x4 Response and BASICS Dorset, attended a multiagency training exercise at West Moors Fire Training Centre. Multiple scenarios with multiple casualties..

Thank you to everyone who came to see us at Westbourne Fire Station Open Day today & made a donation/chatted to us/practiced CPR.
If anyone wanted to donate but didn’t have cash, please go to www.basicsdorset.org.uk/donate
We are pleased to announce we will be at Westbourne Fire Station on 14 August. Come see us to learn CPR and meet one of our docs, plus see some of our kit and hear more about what we do.
Firefighters at Westbourne are hosting their first open day in over ten years! 10-3pm on Sunday the 14th of August.
We are delighted to be able to welcome our community back onto the fire station and would like to invite everyone to come along and spend some time to meet our firefighters, have a look around the Station, fire appliances and give us the opportunity to offer you some home and fire safety advice.
There will be demonstrations by firefighters using the Chip Pan Unit, Aerial Ladder Platform and our Technical Rescue Team. Visitors will also be able to see specialist vehicles like our UNIMOG and meet Officers from Dorset Police!
All visitors are being invited to bring a bag of clothing jumble for the Firefighter’s Charity collection, please no bric-a-brac, plastic, toys or electrical items!
We were about to post to mark our 100th shout this year, but South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust dispatchers had other ideas. So we’re marking our 102nd call of 2022 with EB01 called out yesterday to provide enhanced care for an unwell adult and a trauma in East Dorset.
Thanks to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, DWFireRescue and Dorset Police for your support at scene.
It’s our 4th anniversary!
On this day in 2018, volunteer doctor EB01 answered the first call for BASICS in Dorset.
Since then our medics have been called to give enhanced emergency care at over 500 incidents around the county (and a few further afield).
Our medics are volunteers who offer their skills to help patients who need urgent care in the community.
We are a charity and rely on public donations to keep answering the calls.
Please help us treat the next 500 by visiting www.basicsdorset.org.uk/donate
Yesterday felt like the Longest Day.
Three shouts for EB01 overnight providing enhanced emergency care alongside South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust for 2 trauma patients and an immersion patient in East Dorset.
Thanks to DWFireRescue and Maritime and Coastguard Agency CRT for all your help with access and extrication.
As Volunteers Week 2022 comes to an end, we’d like to thank our responders, trustees & other volunteers. We’ve had a really busy week supporting South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust & we couldn’t do it without the support of our amazing volunteers ❤️
Today is Firefighter’s Memorial Day, when we honour colleagues and friends who have lost their lives in line of duty. It's also an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication, commitment and courage of those who work hard to protect our communities every day.
At 12 noon, we will observe a one minute silence at our fire stations and other workplaces, joining colleagues from across the UK in this show of respect.
Please say hello to Dr Chris, our new BASICS medic here in Dorset.
Chris has previously responded for BASICS with the Official West Midlands CARE Team. He’ll be logging on as , directly supporting South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust in providing emergency care to patients out in our community.
Busy 24-hours for our volunteer doctor EB01:
Requested at 1am to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust & DWFireRescue with a multi-patient house fire in the BCP Council area.
2nd call this afternoon working with SWASFT, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance & Dorset Traffic Cops treating an RTC patient in East Dorset.
EB01 will remain available overnight should enhanced care be required in the East Dorset area. As always, we rely on your generous donations to keep this life saving service going.

We’ve been a little quiet on here of late but exciting things are happening. Watch this space…..
Happy New Year to our supporters and our great big .
This clip rounds up the Annual Report to trustees on our activity for the 12-month period.
This has been the busiest year since starting operations in East Dorset, supporting by giving lifesaving, time-critical care to those patients who need it most.
Our volunteer medics offer their time freely, but we need funds to train, equip and supply them. If you value the work we do please visit our website to make a donation.
