This is a fascinating piece discussing the current state of postpartum awareness and care in UK healthcare. In the Guardian, Emma Beddington explores how representations of those athletic postpartum periods intersect with and diverge from those of the general population - with the singular unifying feature being just how underestimated the impact, acute & chronic symptoms, and long-standing effects are by both the medical establishment and the world at large. 👶

But in spite of the disregard and disrespect from those institutions specifically charged with caring; there are swathes of the population who don't just care, they've dedicated years of their lives to learning and developing and providing the best postpartum care and healing possible. ‍🤱

Also, if any other practitioners of any type in Brighton would like to volunteer to add themselves to this scheme, I'm more than happy to share logo/copy/etc., so we can create a wee safe referral network for anyone seeking menstrual products in Brighton so they don't have to ask, but can easily see at a glance where to find help - ESPECIALLY for folk who bleed cyclically who aren't women, as this creates yet another often seemingly impenetrable barrier to support when services are entirely women-centric.

❓ Help! How do I open and stretch my pelvis? 🤔

Sit upright on the floor with your back straight and bring the soles of your feet together, allowing your knees to drop out to the sides. Allow your knees to open as wide as you can. In this position, bring your arms to rest on top of your thighs. From here, allow your arms to provide resistance to your legs. Do not force your legs downwards, simply provide equal resistance to that which can be offered by your legs. Hold this resistant tension for a count of five, then release both your arms and your legs. You will find that your knees can now open further than they could previously. Repeat this process three times and notice how quickly you have increased your pelvic flexibility. ✨
