Nothing more than the title here :)
Anecdotally this is one of the most effective ways to land an uppercut catching an aggressive opponent coming in. Learning to pull to stability is vital though and the following roll needs to be sharp or you’ll just end up getting bopped. Definitely faster than what you see here, I was exhausted after powerlifting 🫠

Has a powerful, snappy cross after adopting an old school head to right hip bias that shortens his travel time to land the right hand with power and speed.

What I was pointing out was the head and hips are linked so when the head moves the hips have to move in the opposite direction to counterbalance. It’s often tricky to be efficient with this as one travels further than the other, but practicing the pull and utilising your torso to evade so you can keep you position is a worthwhile drill to practice alongside weaving for balance work.

Using the right foot as an anchor, positioned around 3 o clock gives you a spring to fire the right hand as you finish the pull. Invite the opponent in and then use their momentum against them, or simply use it to avoid being timed on a counter off the jab cross, as shown here. Next we work on timing and why the cross beats the lead hook if timed to perfection! 🥊 Excellent work Franck.

has sadly enjoyed developing an explosive peek-a-boo style alongside his powerlifting pursuits with which means me getting winded through my body pad 😂. The joys of being a human punchbag 🥲

Slipping on the inside of the jab is always dangerous as it lines you up with the opponents right hand, but if you use a tighter guard while doing so (paws on cheeks), you effectively create makeshift headgear that protects your nose and chin… slipping this way also allows us to load the left hip and shift our shoulder trajectory downwards with the lead shoulder. This creates a better opportunity for RFD from the lower body to switch step, take the angle and use the momentum generated to swing the right hook like a baseball bat. This is perfect as the mechanics of the movement are exactly the same as swinging a bat. (See thumbnail 🧢⚾️🏟)
All that’s left is to tighten these mechanics up with Andrea 👌🏽 excellent work and enjoyed being in the lab with you.

Uses for a lazy jab??? Sometimes you can get away with feigning fatigue… which invites aggression. Slip over the right hip as the opponent advances with the jab and if they’re looking to finish and get impatient they may open up and walk right into the powerful right hand. We want to focus purely on rotation and not moving north to south with the torso! The chain from foot to fist is compressed like a spring, allowing for more leverage from the floor meaning an increase in rate of force development (RFD) translating to a harder shot!

Always a fun time exchanging ideas with ex amateur boxers and putting them into practice with the basics. My thanks Victor 🙏 such a good energy to be around 😁

is keen to potentially get set up with a white collar fight. He hits incredibly hard for his weight. Today we worked on increasing his VO2 max with hard 2 minute rounds at 85+% max HR. Moving your feet and weaving does the job, as well as having a padman swinging at you. 😁Well done
Very excited for what’s to come with this young man.

Another effective like drill working on slipping to the outside and gaining ground. The cross hook and hook cross compliment each other perfectly to set up aggressive counters, you get a 3 for 1 whereby you evade, advance your position and load the side of the hip to deliver a power shot. Thank you for taking a tap to the solar plexus 😘 the balloons here to stay? 😁

29/04/2022

Another lovely little drill dump with focusing on the catch, slip, weave. The double slip is often ineffective… after slipping the jab the cross usually beats the second slip and you end up off balance, the weave or roll beats both the straight punches and hooks if you can move fast enough. Practicing those checkpoints on the hips is vital! (As demonstrated at the start)

learning the foundations of the guard without feeling concussed! 🤕

Knowing when to come out of your shell is vital, especially when looking to land the powerful right hand! First comes force absorption by “catching” shots on the gloves and biasing the right hip, using it as a spring to absorb force, then counter. You get a two for one where you nullify damage and invite your opponent in (as they feel they have momentum) and walk right into your power hand.

Excellent work from this man, looking forward to refining things further with the overhand right from this position👌🏽🥊

15/03/2022

Learning to punch and move laterally with footwork is no easy feat! For the foundations of boxing it’s always wise to land the shot and hit the floor with the foot at the same time to keep a solid base.
Khalid does a great job here though as we’re practically throwing at fighting pace. The only thing we need to work on now is bringing the right hand back to the chin so we don’t expose ourselves when it matters most 🥊
Excellent work though regardless, moving diagonally next!🥲

Fuad doing an excellent job on the Pallof press in his first S&C boxing session! 😁

The reason we use this movement for boxing are for the anti rotational benefits they provide, but also to develop straight arm scapular strength through rotation… from foot to fist, the chain has to be strong! It’s wise to remember it isn’t predominantly a push and pull sport, but one of rotation and stability to produce force and punch effectively! 😵‍💫

Having fun utilising the stretch shortening cycle, bouncing from one position to the next with no care for getting slapped with a counter lead hook. My guard is as effective as my chihauhaus are at guarding home. Ooops. I blame

Noor learns how to throw Muay Thai roundhouse kicks and loses weight at the same time 😂 💪🏽

Only 3 weeks back to training and already down close to 2kg 😮
We’ll get her thoughts on the journey soon!

Truly blessed to have such amazing clients and managers, believe it or not I was PTing😂

Sometimes the padman messes up too 😿😂... building a few loops so we can flow into an even longer combo, memory games at its finest 🧠🤯

19/08/2021

Vidushi learning how to move and box at the same time, only a little more work needed on head position and timing for proper leverage and we're golden. Excellent work for the 2nd time trying this drill 💪🏽😁

Another huge win being downplayed by my good friend and client Philip, he's been on a flexible diet plan of mine for 10 weeks now and has been consistently hitting his step targets and low and behold- lost 6-7KG...which is fine progress!👌🏽

Adam's Testimonial ☺️
°
It's such a nice surprise when a client willingly wants to give you praise, it makes this job so rewarding and reminds me why I started in the first place... tight hammies and the accompanying nerves are the worst, and when finally "released" it can be quite the experience, as Adam mentions!

What a perfect picture to sum up Monday night combat... a nice little memento for myself of these hard workers and .health but it's bittersweet as it's the last one 😭.
°
There weren't many positive things to come out of lockdown but this community we made together, where we all showed up at 6pm, got a sweat on, threw a few(thousand) knees and kicks meant a lot to me for my own personal wellbeing physically and mentally. I'll be forever grateful. Thank you all.😌
°
And a huge shout-out to the Scorrer fam for being such a great vibe and humbling me with their cardiovascular prowess. 😂💪🏽

Here's an excellent little infographic made by the guys that taught me all things nutrition and health! I wanted this post to be immortalized on here before it gets lost in the never ending amount of great info they put out!
°
When most of us think of "real stress" we think hairloss or something like running from a lion (not sure which is scarier 😂😬)... but oftentimes stressors go undetected for a long time...they're cheeky, pernicious and slowly encumber you before you know it... leaving you at odds as to why you feel so bad and why everything feels harder.
°
As this lockdown eases so many of these stressors might decrease but some may not. A lot of us put everything negative in our lives due to lockdown but that may not be the case for some... Using the infographic, have a think about which ones might be getting swept under the carpet for you and try to make these changes to return to a more functional, healthier you. ☺️

Anchoring the lead foot 🥊
°
Moving on from the last few posts with working angles with the step over and hip carrys, we can also avoid being hit by anchoring the lead foot while in close proximity to your opponent to use out head as bait. The anchored foot acts as a stopper to allow us narrowly avoid incoming power shots at close range. By moving the torso, this also allows us to use the back foot as a spring board for the overhand right or cross counter. When you get the timing right, this one feels amazing! 😁
°
Not only this... but it's so engaging to drill, when everything is in place from the foot up, we can produce so much more power with the punches that follow. 👌🏽 it's just not so nice to be the padman's shoulder. 😅

16/03/2021

Not reaching your daily steps targets and lack motivation to do so? Get a dog or two! 😂🐶💪🏽

14/03/2021

Chris has been putting in the work come rain or shine! His hook step over is coming along nicely and this was right at the end of a 60 minute session on top of shuttle sprints!
°
As I always say, if you can make cardio engaging, measurable and skill based, you forget you're doing it a lot of the time! Training doesn't have to be a chore, it can be enjoyable too.
°
Free taster sessions available as soon as we open!

Pike Forward Folds🤸‍♂️🤸‍♀️
°
This pose stretches the whole of the posterior chain, from head to heels. It builds strength and flexibility in the spine and releases tension in the neck, upper back and lower back.
°
You just get so much for one stretch and it's why I often utilize them in my own training as well as with my clients... But oftentimes many struggle to do them because they feel as stiff as a board and can't find the range to get all of the benefits of lengthening the spine.
°
All we need to do is use a towel to modify it and get those benefits!
°
So now you've got no excuses, unless you have a back injury, in which case go easy! variations to come soon!

This message was about the guilt felt after indulging in a burger and tempura shrimp on holiday... My client's goal is to lose body fat and look leaner. I sent this message back that some of you might find valuable.
°
"The majority of us are habit based creatures and it's hard to break habits that give us immediate pleasure. You just need to stop and think next time before doing it mindlessly. It really helps that you don't feel good afterwards as that can be used as a great motivator to succeed. Some people don't feel a thing but you're in touch with your body which helps!
°
Everything associated with holidays doesn't have to be related to food. If it is a huge part of it for you then that's absolutely fine. We just don't want to be doing things out of habit with no intention.
°
You have to ask yourself "Will eating this make or break my holiday? Will it give me any long term satisfaction?"
°
If yes - How much do I value it if so? How much am I willing to control my portion size?
°
If no - you have your answer, you just need to apply yourself and tap into your "why", the reason you started this journey..."
