Wow! We had so many fantastic applications for the job. It was a really tough decision but we've found our new Japonikitten. We'll be adopting her towards the end of October. We know she's friendly, litter trained and pretty independent, but has a tendency to demand treats.

You'll be able to come and visit her soon, but please, no touching!

I've added a completely unrelated photo of me and the lovely Nu, who comes to stay when her owner is away. This is not our new Japonikitten.

More huge thanks to Jacky Howson Artist for her beautiful work .

Detail from the mural for Japonicat that I’m working on at the moment and soon to be completed!

Huge thanks to Jacky Howson Artist again!

We're very pleased to introduce our lovely new Japonicat.
Her name is Emi and you'll find her silently judging you from the walls of the shop.
We'd love to thank the amazing Jacky Howson Artist for her beautiful work, not just on Emi, the new logo, but also on the walls of the shop. Photos to follow soon.

We're also going to be giving our social media a bit of an upgrade...
Watch this space!

Twice a year, Japonicat pays its respects at the Gotokuji Cat Temple. It's a really important part of the visits to Tokyo. We decided to visit earlier in the day to avoid the crowds (of people, not cats!), but it seems half of the tourists in Tokyo had the same idea!

One of the best things about being in Japan is the food. It's all just so delicious. Fortunately I have a good Japanese friend who regularly takes me to places I probably wouldn't have gone into.
For lunch today, we went to a place called Jonny that was very zen. We had unagi. That's eel to you and me. So beautifully presented and very tasty.

Photos from Japonicat's post 27/05/2024

Oh, go on then. Japonicat just can't resist the fabulousness of these t-shirts!

Back in Tokyo working hard to bring you as much kawaii as possible.
In the meantime, here's some shoes!

A very happy customer and his little frog. He's passionate about toads, frogs and all things warty!

This beautiful cat found its forever home last week. Thank you so much for the beautiful sunlit photo, Gigi Georgina Hollis.

We still have a few of this litter looking for a new home (eiju no ie). They're very prim and proper, but also seem to be quite suspicious of just about everything.

As usual, you can find them in Japonicat at St Nicholas Market.

Photos from Japonicat's post 06/02/2024

Ghibli peeps, look what just arrived!
As usual, we only have a small amount of these. More on their way soon.

Konichiwa! I'm back from Tokyo. Lots of new exciting stock heading to the UK.

In the meantime, here's a few Tokyo photos for you to enjoy. These are the quite sensible ones. More to follow!

Feeling a little meh today?
Japonicat at St Nicholas Market may have just the thing to put a smile on your face.

This little shakka of Quokka have decided to camp out at Japonicat while they wait to bring joy into the lives of their new owners. Or maybe I'll just take them all home with me!

Photos from Japonicat's post 12/12/2023

We've been pretty busy in the run up to Christmas so you can imagine how pleased we were when Santa showed up to lend a hand. We had a chat and we let him know you've all been really good this year.
Beth muscled in on the action and we managed to get a great photo of them both.

Japonicat at St Nicholas Market is open every day until Christmas Eve. Then we sleep for 2 days before opening again on 27th December.

Just in case we don't get around to posting again before the big day, we'd like to wish you all a very, very lovely Christmas. # # #

Thank you so much to Cerise Reed for sending me this wonderful photo of her cat Teddy, being a dude in his sunglasses. He's cool and he knows it! I wasn't sent a photo of the scratches and bites that must have been involved.

Think your cat could out-cool Teddy? Various styles available in Japonicat at St Nicholas Market

A box from Japan arrived at Japonicat at St Nicholas Market . It was making a strange sighing and tutting noise.

Guess these guys were unimpressed with their journey. I have a feeling this lot are unimpressed about a lot of things.

Maybe you'd like to be the proud owner of what we're now calling Lethargy Cats. If we can be bothered....

Pretty much all of the kimonos have found their forever homes.

They've made way for a new range of super-cute Sanrio t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies. More designs in Japonicat at St Nicholas Market and yet more on their way.

Photos from Japonicat's post 24/08/2023

Here at Japonicat, we adore Sanrio characters. We love their innocence and friendliness. The Japanese really know how to catch the cuteness in just about everything they do!
It would take me all day to photograph them all so you'll have to make do with just a small selection.

We're all stocked up ready for the Jolly Season down at St Nicholas Market. We have to work so far ahead to make sure we have all the goodies you could ever need!

Photos from Japonicat's post 10/08/2023

Huge thanks to the amazing artist Jacky Howson for bringing the outside of Japonicat at St Nicholas Market to life!
We're thrilled at the result and will definitely be getting her in again to do the other side of the shop once it's a bit clearer.
