It's never too early to plan and prepare your home for the busy festive period; even more so if you're entertaining Family and friends or having guests to stay.

Here are some tips to help you organise your home ahead of time leaving you feeling ready to enjoy the Christmas holidays!

Create a welcoming entrance
Add a wreath or swag to your front door to welcome your guests as they arrive. A glow from twinkling lights creates a lovely atmosphere and always helps people feel festive. Inside the door add scented candles or diffusers to embrace your guests once they step inside.
Have a space for extra shoes, coats and bags available.

Refresh the Guest bedroom
Create a cosy sanctuary for your guests - fresh bedding, towels, a choice of pillows and blankets.
Add a small hamper with chargers, toiletries and treats for an extra special touch.

Plan your seating and Dining table settings.
Ensure you have enough chairs and space for all of your guests.
Plan your dining table setting so you know how much space you'll need and if you need extra crockery etc

Add festive touches in unexpected places throughout the home
Sprinkling festive cheer around the house is a great way to lift the whole house during Christmas. Just a small touch in an unexpected place can make your home feel magical. Twinkly lights, scented candles and cheeky mistletoe are great for this!

Stock up on essentials and special treats
Planning ahead and making sure you have enough of the essentials stops the mad rush panic setting in when youre too busy to go to the shops. Have shopping delivery slots booked in for last minute bits so you can add to it as you go.
Dont forget to add a few special treats - your guests favourite biscuits, a bottle of bubbly, etc - to make their Christmas (and yours) even better!

A little work ahead of time planning and setting up deliveries etc can save you time and stress during an already busy time - meaning you can make the most of the Christmas period too!

When you have a large dominant feature of a room - such as a stone fireplace - you have 2 options.

You can either give it the space it demands and let it take the limelight which can perhaps result in a room which feel slightly unbalanced. Or...
..you can add other elements which balance the feature in terms of strength of colour, pattern or size.

In this colour scheme the depth of the wood and the pattern of the fabric would help to balance the room and take some of the attention away from the fireplace. Getting the balance of features right is the key to a room which feels good to be in.

We're nearly ready to start the construction phase on this Master Bedroom and En-suite project.

Im really excited as its going to be such a huge transformation for my clients giving them a sophisticated, relaxing and luxurious space just for them.
