Hi, I'm Claire Petrie 😊
Women's Fitness Coach. Personal Training for Runners. Working towards a 100 mile Ultra when I turn 50 in 2026. Come and play! Bristol, UK.
Only a few hours left! Thank you for all of your support ♥️
Here's the week 4 training plan for . Full disclosure – I already know that this will have to have a rejig because it's half term and the kids are off school so it'll be chaos. But that's ok – I'll make it work and update you as we go!
I appreciate that being a working parent doesn't mean it's easy to maintain this level of training, but it's ok to make adjustments – go with the flow, get quality miles in and you'll be ok.
Hello Ploggers!
Thank you for supporting our Plogging group so far…
I just wanted you to know that across groups in Exeter, Bristol and London, we have cleared over 250kg of litter of the streets, reducing plastic pollution and connecting like-minded people for a healthy activity that is good for the planet! Thank you!
We have ambitions to grow plogging into a national movement reaching every British community to make a real difference. If you have enjoyed our sessions and would like to show your support, we currently have an Aviva Crowdfunder where every donation up to £250 will be matched by Aviva! So, every £10 is worth £20. This campaign only has a few days left though…if you are able to donate, even just a little, that would be massively helpful!

Thanks and see you at the next plogging session
Plogging in the UK 💛 To supercharge the plogging movement in the UK to improve the health of our people and our environment
Caption this awful picture of me taken approximately two thirds of the way around the Keynsham Dandy last weekend ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
There She Goes! I really hope the photographer snapped my massive fall...!
As I enter week 3 of training for I am both buoyed by my experience at the epic Keynsham Dandy on Sunday, and intimidated by it!
It was a pretty relentless 12.5 miles of thick, slippery-yet-sticky mud, crop fields, streams up to my arse, hills, forests, fields and more in pouring rain. I loved it, but I have come to realise the work I need to put into Arc which will be at least twice the distance and twice the elevation!
And also – serious question – why am I so rubbish at descending hills?! All tips are welcome.
So, here we go. Let's do this week 3!
Any questions? I've got loads 🤣
Ahead of this Sunday’s Plogging with Planet Earth Games, we have some VERY exciting news!
Bristol Plogging has been chosen for support by the Co-op Local Community Fund! This means that – with the support of Co-op Members – we will receive a donation to grow our good work in lowering plastic pollution, supporting people’s wellbeing through physical activity and community connectivity.
Sign in and click here to support our cause: https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/91673
The good news is that anyone in the UK can vote for us, so please vote and share.
And, while you're at it, why don't you agree to come Plogging with me on Sunday? The Brent and Exeter Ploggers were hugely successful this week and we need to beat their targets!
Bristol! It's your turn next Sunday 27th October. Let's Plog! Who's coming? Halloween theme – you don't have to dress up but I will!
A good read ♥️
Bristol Plogging this month – 27th October at 10am at Horfield Leisure Centre. Halloween theme is encouraged but not mandatory! Let me know if you are coming 🎉
From moody to blue 💙
Weather a bit gloomy? Get out for a walk anyway, you never know how much it might change, and the air is fresh all the same ♥️
Whatever you are doing today, be sure to get outside if you can.
Enjoy your lunch break.
Switch off your emails for a moment.
Mute the WhatsApp chats.
Move your body and your mind!
Week two of training for is underway – today is a full body strength day that I'll do in the Play gym a little later – I need to walk first to stretch my legs after some slightly bigger miles yesterday.
All is going well so far! If you have any questions just ask. I'll cover fuelling, kit list and more over the coming weeks.

ON THE BLOG: PROTEIN FOR RUNNERS
I’ve written a blog about the importance of protein for runners, and provided a summary here for those who are short on time. I’ve also included a practical plan to help you assess your current protein intake and make improvements to your diet.
You can use the macros calculator on my website, and if you send me a message, I’ll share my food diary template with you.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions!

Trail run time! Just watch out for goats.
A quick run.
For those who said they wanted walks at Stoke Park – this looks perfect!
👀This looks great!
The Hub Lockleaze and Bristol Disability Equality Forum invite you to 'Rollers and strollers' on an accessible path in Stoke Park Estate.
🗓Wednesday 30th October
⏰11am to 12:30pm
The event may be cancelled if the weather is very bad.
I started training for this week. I'm doing the 'baby' Arc – 25 miles – because I am relatively inexperienced at coastal trail running and didn't want to bite off more than I can chew. Yet.
But in all seriousness, coastal train running in the bleak midwinter is not a walk in the park and we must respect what it demands – starting small is often the way to go even if our spirit wants to go for the big guns!
On that note, a huge shout out to everyone training for Arc, especially those brave souls doing the 50/100 miles.
Here's what my training plan involves this week. This doesn't mention sleep or food – I'll share more on that as the weeks progress.
Any questions, just holler! I'm here to share the highs and lows of the 16 week journey.

Listen to Chris Broadbent talking all about Plogging at the World Championships 🎉
Just a little Friday check in. I'm only cleaning (dancing around the house) and running (dancing around the streets) today, so if anyone's having a crap week and needs a chat, hit me up. I mean, hit me up anytime!
