Good article here by Kerstin Sailer which certainly reflects the views we have.
Covid will force us to reimagine the office. Let's get it right this time | Kerstin Sailer Dreams of reinventing the workplace gave us cubicles and hotdesking as utopian ideas gave way to cost-cutting, says academic Kerstin Sailer
So is everyone going to be working from home in the future? Whilst many organisations, employers and employees will no doubt have come to realise some of the benefits of home working and the flexibility it can offer…but does this mean everyone will be working from home in future? It’s a bit of a Marmite question, people seem to either ‘love it or hate ...
Photo shoot this morning! Early start, been capturing this recently finished project which the Client is delighted with....Designed in collaboration with yvonne@livingspace...
Occasionally we are asked to extend our design work to exteriors. Working in collaboration with Living Space this project in Swindon was at the client's request to upgrade the exterior entrance to be in keeping with the new interior remodelling and fit out.
Some progress shots of a New Project nearing completion in the New Year in association with Yvonne@livingspace.
The project involves some significant re modelling of the spaces New Entrance, Reception, Meeting Rooms, New double height atrium space, WCs,Shower Graphics, and furniture including a custom reception desk
We'll bring you more on completion.
Build less fixed elements into workspace interiors and recycle more.
For years if we wanted any form of private meeting spaces, meeting rooms, 1 to 1 rooms etc we had to build them from either
acoustically dubious partitions system or good old stud and plasterboard.
If we wanted to subsequently alter the spaces then there was a good deal of wastage and redundant materials.
Thankfully things have changed, for a start plasterboard manufacturers have the capability to recycle
gypsum plaster and are actively doing so, which can only be good news for this dwindling natural resource.
There is without doubt still, and will always be, a requirement for built certain elements but these are now becoming fewer and certainly true in the workspace design sector.
Many items that previously needed to be custom built are now available off the shelf as furniture/interior elements
That’s not to say that each project is the same, there will always be the ability and need to create ‘the look’ on any space.
We have been encouraging our clients to take this route as the benefits are many, but include, future proofing, flexibility, less wastage and less time on site during the fit out stage.
The components are all re-usable and can be reconfigured as needs change, and if you move, you can just take them with you.
This approach also reaps benefits of significant cost savings as there is often a reduced requirement of modifications to the
base build mechanical ventilation systems and lighting.
The commercial furniture industry have responded well by providing thoughtfully designed elements
for many of the ‘away from the desk’ activities such as
Meeting pods/quiet pods -private spaces
Acoustic Havens/huddle areas -semi private
Away from desk study space -semi private
Collaboration tables/spaces -semi open
Lounge/club -open
Town Hall spaces -semi open
So we now have a whole raft of additional solutions to deal with most work space requirements along with the added benefit in helping to control distracting noise.
It’s not only furniture that assists with controlling unwanted noise but acoustic ceilings, flooring, and acoustic control panels, rafts and blades can all come together in a considered way to provide exciting but practical solutions.
The other major benefit of building less fitted items is when leases are due to expire then the dilapidations and making good are substantially reduced, thus bringing further significant cost savings down the line.
Technology has now liberated us from being tied to a desk for all of our daily activities , one can carry out work in several locations within a facility throughout the day, dependant on the task in hand.
These are exciting times, for creating work spaces to meet your organisation’s needs and culture and are made more cost efficient than ever by real world future proofing and longevity.
Reducing waste through selecting the right type of re-usable products can only be good for the planet and has real cost benefits to our clients.

Pictured below Creative England’s, quirky and sometimes eclectic new Bristol office is now complete.
Located at College Green, the brief was to create a stimulating working environment but without looking too “corporate”.
With a very challenging budget we were able to recycle some redundant furniture from other locations and only adding new were absolutely required.
The careful use of large scale graphics, photo montage, and pin boards all help to give the the feel the client was looking for.
The client has now moved in and with plenty of positive feedback are delighted with their new facility.
