Alfie's Charity Page

In June 2021 at 20yrs old, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

The reason I am telling my story is to spread awareness of cancer in young adults and to raise money for Ward C9 at Addenbrookes Hospital to pay forward everything they did for me.

ALFIES STORY – TEE IT UP FOR TEENAGE CANCER

In 2021 at the age of 20, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

The reason I am telling my story is to spread awareness of cancer in young adults and to catch it early!
It is so important for young people to check themselves regularly and be aware of the symptoms that can possibly point to cancer.

My systems included, being lethargic, night sweats, a temperature, a lump in my thigh, and going off my food for a period of 14 months. Finally, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and referred to the YOUNG ADULT CANCER WARD C9 at Addenbrookes where I underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The care I received at C9 was second to none, not only for me but also for the support my parents received while I was undergoing treatments. It’s very reassuring knowing there is someone at the end of the phone 24hours a day. The YOUNG ADULT CANCER WARD is bright and cheerful, the staff are always upbeat, understanding, sympathetic, and offer a positive experience during the most difficult circumstances.

I have embarked on a campaign to raise money for the C9 ward (to pay it forward), I feel this is the least I can do after receiving such amazing care which is still ongoing. The money I raise will go towards maintaining the games room which is vital for the young adults who need to stay on the ward while having their treatments, it also serves as a haven to form friendships and share your experiences with other patients.

I’m an amateur golfer so what better way to bring people together & raise money, than a Charity Golf Day. “Tee it up for Teenage Cancer”
Please find below my Just giving page to make donations.

Thank you for reading my story – I hope it saves young lives…
