🍁"Dimensions" exhibition: exhibiting artist 🖌️
An array of moving, thought provoking and otherworldly art is now on show this autumn at GALLERIE V, with a late opening on the 4th (TONIGHT!!) October until 7pm 🍂 come and pop by to say hello and grab a biscuit or two 👋
Breaking Down
Oil paint and texture paste on plywood, 61 x 91 cm, (2023).
Inspired by the distortion created by technological faults in digital screens, “Breaking Down” and “Colour Study #2” (also featured in our "Dimensions" exhibition) are Amalie’s visual representation of the deconstruction of defective digital images of landscapes in oil paint.
The composition of these works are directly representational of the abstract characteristics of an image that, when broken, evolves into a distorted, pixilated and stretched abstraction of itself.
By reducing a digital image to an abstract composition of coloured lines, Amalie explores the subtle differences in colour in landscapes in a method the human eye is unable to perceive.
In her work, Jones aims to push the boundaries of the two-dimensional by exploring the physical properties of paint in producing abstract images which focus on texture, colour, and form that represent and recreate the workings and optical results of human vision.
🍁Another "Dimensions" artist .al 🖌️

"When In Doubt, Blame the Moon", Lithography on linoleum on handmade linen and kozo paper, 40 x 40 cm (2024).

Cub in the Canopy
Oil on Canvas, 100 x 76 cm (2024)
Cub in the Canopy depicts a serene moment of a curious leopard cub taking refuge among the upper branches of a tree in the African bush. Through an acute attention to detail, this painting captures the cub’s inquisitive gaze and the subtle textures of its fur, offering a lifelike representation of the magical experience encountered on an unforgettable adventure into the African bush.

Some of Sophie's watercolour paintings of the Botanical Garden by .24
Watercolour on card, 29.7 x 21.0 cm (2023)
Sophie’s paintings are inspired by her regular visits to the local botanical garden. Sophie’s landscape works often have exaggerated colours which she enjoys manipulating to create different atmospheres. Two of these paintings were created live during the Cambridge Art Trail of Independent galleries last July.
If you want to have the chance to exhibit your work like Sophie, apply via our website (link in bio) by midnight tonight!

Two of Dominic's large paintings;
1. Lazy Afternoon, oil painting, 100 x 76 cm
Based off an encounter in Zimbabwe’s Savé Valley Conservancy, A Lazy Afternoon demonstrates the typical behaviour of warthogs seeking respite in the heat of the blazing African sun, utilising the expansive shadows cast by baobab trees to remain cool and comfortable in temperatures which can often exceed 40°C. Their rugged skin textures harmonise seamlessly with the distinctive buttress roots of the baobabs, offering them effective camouflage and lending a sense of unity to the painting's composition of these coexisiting iconic animals.
2. Pride Rock, oil painting, 100 x 76 cm
Drawing inspiration from numerous encounters amidst the expansive Serengeti plains, Pride Rock demonstrates the relationship between lions and the rugged rock formations known as koppie. Serving as multifunctional sanctuaries, these geological features offer a haven for lions, from safeguarding their vulnerable cubs during hunts to serving as strategic vantage points for scouting prey. Whether rising into the cooling breeze or seeking refuge from the scorching midday sun, koppie stand as key allies for predators amidst the sprawling and desolate landscape of the savannah.
Since beginning his relationship with Chishakwe on a year abroad, Dominic has returned regularly for an annual painting retreat. With most of his paintings being based on his own experiences, getting out on the ground gives him a priceless opportunities to collect materials to paint from, and Chishakwe gives me the opportunity to do just that. With an abundance and variety of life in a stunning environment, I am able to capture the beauty of one of the wildest places that Africa has to offer, meaning I can transfer it on to canvas to create my African scenes.
Currently on show in our 3rd Anniversary Exhibition ☀️
b.2000, Michelle Pang is a British born Chinese artist. Her nationality has inspired her to combine western and eastern art influences together through abstract and photorealism techniques.
Pang’s oil portraits are snapshots very personal to her. Not only is her personal life embedded into the work but many pieces are also inspired by stories from loved ones. In her portraits, she hopes to express and explore emotions and memories that make up one’s individual story.

Featuring Alexandra Hayes' "Cleanliness is close to godliness so I eat clean" Collage and paint on paper, 51 x 35.5 cm, (2024) and "All pinked up with nowhere to go" Collage on paper, 50 x 35 cm (2022) 🎨
Alexandra Hayes received her BA in Fine Art from City and Guilds of London Art School in 2021. She was the recipient of the David Ballardie Memorial Award in 2020 and has exhibited in London and Cambridge. Her work intertwines personal narratives with fables, art historical references and current news stories, creating temporally overlapping and decontextualised scenes.
Today as we grapple with the consequence of our ecological footprint, our relationship with the natural world stands at a critical junction. This concept is often explored within her collage works, epitomised by gluttony and the consumption of food. Central to this thematic exploration are sea creatures – both real and imagined – as motifs of the foreign and other. Religious imagery also features heavily in this examination of societal ideologies. In Alexandra’s work, this is influenced by her upbringing in a religious household. Through her art, Alexandra reflects on the intersection of personal history, cultural narratives, and the pressing environmental and political challenges of our time.

Sam Milan Hewitt, 23
The Alchemist
MDF Laser-cut from hand-drawn image 161.8 x 100 cm (2022)
Sam’s laser-cut piece was created from an ink drawing which was then processed digitally into the laser cutting software. Sam wanted to explore how he could transform a 2-dimensional drawing into 3 dimensions. Creating a tangible object of depth and space.
Created in 2022 which for the artist symbolises and embodies his transformation and growth. For Sam, the work is a way of making sense of his many spiritual experiences including time spent in the Amazon Rainforest with people that greatly influenced him in multiple ways.
For Sam, the piece is a reminder of his innate oneness with my environment and the elements of air, water, earth, fire, and ether. It poses as a window into the core of who the artist is and houses a “constant” that is at one with all and that observes his change.
Thank you to everyone who came to our "Retrospective" Winter show opening last Friday.
