Over 1000 events have contributed to this year’s Eisteddfod in Ponty. And who could forget the Gorsedd ceremony, a celebration of art and cultural contributions and fabulous excuse to wear a robe.

49 people have been welcomed into Gorsedd Cymru this year, including the Chair of Cymdeithas yr Iaith, Joseff. A sanctuary seeker from the Ivory Coast, Joseff learnt Welsh while settling in Wales. He is now sharing his love of Cymraeg with others as a Welsh language tutor and Chair of the Welsh Language Society.

Also picking up their blue robes are Theresa and Rosa. Both women came to Wales as children and are promoting the language within migrant communities who have made Wales their home.
