No rest for the wicked!

I'm quite a fidgety person, although I said I would rest this week with light activity, I already broke and did a solid workout πŸ”₯

But actually, it felt kind of good πŸ’ͺ

We get into such a habit of doing things, it's hard to break away from the norm, but sometimes that's ok πŸ™

25/12/2023

Wishing all my clients & followers a Merry Christmas πŸŽ„

May you all have a great peaceful day πŸ™

23/12/2023

AND THATS A WRAP πŸŽ‰πŸŽ„

2023 may have had its ups and downs in many peoples lives, but what it goes to show is the determination that people still have to better themselves by all means πŸ’ͺ

I have a great bunch of clients who I look forward to training each day!
Not only do I try to keep them motivated, but they also help me to keep motivated and on my toes.
Also they put up with my weird sense of humour and s**t dad jokes 😁
All on all I have seen some really good progression this year.

We are all looking ahead into 2024 and setting little milestones to complete through the year.
It's good to have set milestones and goals because that is what helps us to keep on track, even if it may get a little twisty.

We have also got some of us doing the brands hatch OCR in May.
This will be the first one for most of my clients 😁πŸ’ͺ

I would like to wish every single one of you a very Merry Christmas & a Happy Healthy 2024 πŸ™

See you on the other side πŸ˜‰

Discipline

Your body is a mirror reflection of the sacrifices you make in the kitchen and in the gym.

People constantly look for motivation, but what you really seek is discipline!

When you learn to say NO to the things that have no benefit to you, that is discipline πŸ’ͺ

18/12/2023

It's the final week of training before the Christmas breakπŸŽ„

And this week some clients will be finishing off with a lucky dip workout 😁

Months ago, I got clients to fill out some cards with either Kettlebell, bodyweight exercises, reps or time.

Now those cards are in my sacks ready for them to have a good rummage!
We are ready to roll 😁πŸ’ͺ

15/12/2023

Fitness Friday πŸ’ͺ

I do have a handful of clients who have been with me for quite a long time, and their goals I would say are quite unique.

Some don't work to be ripped, the so called "perfect body", I think what some have begun to realise is movement is a key aspect of a healthy lifestyle.
Getting older and being able to move more freely, being independent on yourself.
That is what some work towards πŸ’ͺ

Happy Friday πŸ™

12/12/2023

Who loves a good stretch?

Stretching is great and has so many benefits.

-Increased blood flow.

-Improve joint health, also helping joints move through full range of movement.

-May help decrease the risk of injury.

-Can improve performance in physical activities.

To name but a few!

I never do stretching prior to any training, as there is a potential risk of injury stretching a cold muscle.
I usually focus on dynamic mobility to get the joints moving, and leave the stretching until last "post workout".

That being said, I do offer stretch sessions to, which I focus on mobility first with static and dynamic stretches following.
These are great 45 minute sessions to get the whole body moving to your full range of motion, good whether you have a desk job, or to improve your training, they can make you feel a lot looser and relax those prone tight areas.

10/12/2023

With this year creeping to a close, I've got clients thinking ahead of their milestones for 2024.

Setting little milestones can help you to keep on the right path heading towards those bigger goals, very important, and can be encouraging.

What are your milestones for 2024?

08/12/2023

Health is Wealth

As you get older, do you want to be able to move freely? Lift, walk, push, pull.

Or do you want to be assisted with daily tasks because your body is unable to keep up with demands as your joints hurt and muscles are weak?

Train for independence.

Movement in medicine πŸ™

Christmas brunch with a few clients today 😁

Lovely to be able to get together away from a fitness environment.

Not all clients can always attend, but will look forward to the next one πŸ˜„

02/12/2023

When a client makes you fresh cinnamon rolls 😁
Still warm too, and sooo tasty πŸ˜‹

I do love my clients ☺️

01/12/2023

The 6am starts off with some strength work for the morning πŸ’ͺ

It's been cold and frosty, but that's not stopping my clients from giving it some πŸ”₯

Lots of clients are making good progress recently!
Strength and stability gains.
Dropping jeans and dress sizes.
More mobile and flexible.
Increased power when it comes to padworkπŸ₯Š 😁

Loving the work πŸ™

Happy Friday all ❄️

Almost been in the fitness industry 10 years 😱!!!

Time has certainly gone so quick.
And I have met some awesome people, trained some fantastic individuals πŸ’ͺ

Like anything in life, it's had its ups and downs, and taken me a long time to get a little more stable on my feet, but the journey has been worth it!

I've got a great bunch of loyal clients, some who have been with me 3, 4 and even 5 years 😁

So I'm not going anywhere just yet πŸ’ͺ

If you're looking and ready to make a change to your lifestyle, or just need a little guidance on your journey, get in touchπŸ“±

15/11/2023

It's been a while since I did a lengthy clean and jerk set.

I ask clients to guess how many reps I could get with a 16kg Kettlebell in 20 minutes...
Rules, you can't put it down!

Lowest guess was 220
Highest 330.

Now taking into consideration I have done 20 minutes with a 28kg a while ago, and 30 minutes with a 24kg, I knew I could ramp up the pace.

My son counted my reps so I could just crack on and focus πŸ‘

I managed to achieve 382 reps in 20minutes πŸ”₯
I'm quite happy about that!
Realistically don't think I could push much more as apparently was averaging 15-20 rpm, any faster and it would certainly throw out the technique big time.
Fantastic pace for a bit of conditioning though 😁πŸ’ͺ

A little snip from what my son took video πŸ“Έ

What type of recovery do you do on your training or non training days?

I believe most think rest day means to sit on your arse and do nothing.
Am I right?

But in fact, you'll find it more beneficial to get in some active recovery.

You can go for a walk, do a little yoga stretch, go for a swim, or you can use a foam roller, acupressure mat and even a massage gun.

These are some things I use myself and I also try to get clients using them too.

Even just doing something small can help for better recovery, improve blood circulation, it can also help to improve the health of ligaments and tendons.
And not to mention it will make you feel better mentally 😊

09/11/2023

Recovery is just as important as the training.

Which is why I get client's to practice mobility, flexibility, movement and foam rolling πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

08/11/2023

I try to make the effort daily to do a little something.

It might not necessarily be a workout, I may instead focus on movement, or a good few rounds of OH carries/farmers walks etc.

Sometimes I may only spend 5, 10 minutes.
But the thing here is the consistency!
And even with these short work times I see progression in my body's movement.

I'm sure even you can find a bit of time to do something today.
The problem is us humans are very good at talking ourselves out of things, and give lists of excuses that aren't relevant.

Make that time, do a little something for yourself!
Your body will thank you for it πŸ’ͺ

Happy Monday!
The sun is shining β˜€οΈπŸ˜

Hope you all had a great weekend.
Did another group walk yesterday, which turned out quite nice.
Nothing like a good walk in the Christ cool weather through the woodlands 😊

04/11/2023

It was a nice pleasant rise first thing this morning, then 7am hit and it absolutely belted it down 🀣

Had some really good sessions this week, some good heavy workouts, with returns of some clients πŸ’ͺ

As I am lucky enough now to be a little more busier than usual, training slots are very limited, I've already had to turn people down sadly because I just don't have the space to fit them in!

Have a great weekend everyone!
Keep on grinding πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

03/11/2023

If you want to get better at something, put the effort into doing it then it will become more natural.

Think about it, a pro racing driver didn't start out that way.
The constant work and the constant practice that made them fine tweak their driving skills every time they say in the driver's seat.
Gaining confidence to become a better race driver.

When we practice movements and even weight, we build the strength and build the confidence πŸ’ͺ

01/11/2023

I think this is right on point πŸ‘πŸ‘

28/10/2023

What do you see πŸ‘€πŸ˜

27/10/2023

It's been quite a solid day πŸ₯ŠπŸ’ͺ

Some heavy Kettlebell and padwork 😁

20/10/2023

Those dark wet mornings.....

Only the determined will look past this because they are doing what they can to better their health!
If you want it bad enough, you'll work for it πŸ’ͺ

18/10/2023

We all have to start from somewhere.

And goals always changed.

From stick, to muscle, to bendy!

My vision was to try aim to get the perfect body, but there is no such thing!
Even if you do achieve a good body there are always doubt's In your head.
You aren't always happy with what you see.
And another thing, is good having all the muscles, but the range of motion is absolutely s**t!
And not to mention the achy joints as time moves on.

My other vision, as I'm getting older I'm finding practicing movement based exercises very beneficial.
My range of movement has increased, my joint health is improving, and because of this, my natural strength has improved to!
I want to be able to rock it when I get into my 60s.... moving freely!

Remember....
The time you spend and practice exercise and movement, is an investment to your future!
Imagine not being able to enjoy life because you were to busy to exercise πŸ™

11/10/2023

I have clients who have come from other PTs, coaches, gyms and groups like CrossFit and they all say similar things.

My style, my methods, my technique and the cues I implement are unique. I've been told I go above and beyond compared to a lot of other trainers they have used.

Obviously the big reason for this is because I love training with kettlebells!
I have been using them for over 13 years so I've been able to practice and refine movements and workouts which I am able to transfer to my clients.

My experience is certainly pretty high but even so I am still learning...
because you can never stop learning right?

07/10/2023

Bit of a health related post for the weekend πŸ”₯

It wasn't intentional

It just kind of happened

And I don't miss it at all!

But I noticed recently I've been 6 years without alcohol 😁

The great thing is what I've noticed in the past years of not drinking alcohol.

I've been Ill far less, as my immune system has significantly strengthened.
My sleep quality has definitely improved to!
And the thing is, alcohol is NO good for your mental health, and being as I had problems in the past, alcohol can be a trigger.

So I've dug up some benefits of not drinking alcohol and reasons why it maybe worth at least cutting downπŸ‘

1. Ditching alcohol is better for our brains

2. Alcohol use is linked to Dementia

3. Not drinking alcohol can help you lose weight

4. Alcohol prevents our body from absorbing more vitamins and minerals

5. Ditching alcohol improves your sleep quality

6. You’ll be better hydrated

7. Not drinking alcohol can reduce the amount of fat in your liver

8. It significantly lowers your sugar intake

9. Giving up alcohol lowers blood pressure and reduces your risk of heart disease

10. It will boost your immune system

These are some of many!

You don't always need to go completely cold turkey to see some of the benefits, we also have to enjoy life's treats.
But we do only have one body, so treat it with respect πŸ™

01/10/2023

Right.....

So how does this work then?? 🐱

26/09/2023

Short workout session for myself this morning.

And F**K me I was a little bit broke by the end!!! πŸ”₯

10 minutes of Kettlebell Sn**ch without putting it down-16kg bell.

Then I thought it was a good idea to do
10 minutes of clean and jerk, again without putting it down-32kg bell.

At one point I actually thought about giving in but looked at the timer and realised I only had just over 2 minutes to go, the shouting... 🀣

Sometimes this is what training is about, not just the physical strength but a strong mind to be able to push the boundaries, shut your mind off so you can do what you think is impossible πŸ’ͺ

26/09/2023

Good morning πŸ˜€πŸ‘‹

Let's do some push ups πŸ’ͺ🀣

24/09/2023

Strength Is not always about how much weight you can lift, it's also about movement.

If you want to get stronger, you need to iron out the small imperfections, and once you have done that, iron them out some more!

This could be something simple like practicing mobility, yoga, flexibility, resistance band training...
These are just some of the ways that can also help to build greater strength for the heavier lifts.

But not forgetting to work on those areas of neglect, ie hamstrings.
πŸ‘†πŸ‘†πŸ‘†
Now that is very common area which many don't seem to work on often enough.

You want to strengthen the whole body as a unit πŸ’ͺ

Don't be a sucker who sticks to the same body parts, "guys who skip leg day" cough cough" πŸ˜‰

WOMEN
HORMONES
PADWORK

I have trained a lot of women over the years, so you can say I've got the experience!
And this may sound odd to some, I like to learn about their menstrual cycle, why?
because it's so damn important if you want a client to progress!
There are certain times when to implement strength training, this would be between their periods as that's when they are possibly at their strongest.
And many may experience weakness, and even some pain or discomfort, this is when I keep intensity low with frequent breaks.

But overall, exercise during menstruation may help relieve symptoms and is also beneficial for overall health.

I find doing padwork during these times is great, helps them to still keep active, greater hormone balance, and something else I've noticed more of, a good realise of aggression πŸ˜‰

A great comment I had recently from a female client:
"You know more about periods than I do!" πŸ‘πŸ€£

17/09/2023

Met up with some clients today.
Little set up at Herne Bay πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ€£

I think we were quite lucky tbf, the weather originally said rain and thunderstorms from mid day, but it's been absolutely fine, actually was quite pleasant πŸ™‚

It's good to have a catch up with clients away from the fitness setting πŸ‘πŸ‘

15/09/2023

Early morning wake up call!

Embrace the discomfort – that's where the magic happens. Your hard work will pay off, so stay focused! πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ
