Off 2023 goes in to the archives

Well yesterday's jaffa stages didn't quite as planned, with engine issues ending our day after 2 stages. BUT I will say it was the best 17 minutes I have ever had in a rally car a massive thanks to Rhys Edwards MY HERO for sitting in, starting off with me getting the first hairpin wrong and I thought the tyres looked better to go round instead the rumble strip 😂 setting the tone for the 2 stages.

A big thank you to our mummy Stubbs for the brilliant hospitality I hope you enjoyed your birthday on the Welsh South Coast getting rained on!

East African Safari Classic Rally 9th overall 1st in class

Well after 4 days of competing, it's time for a rest day. Where the lads have worked hard to re-prep the car ready for the next 4 days of rallying on the East African Safari Classic Rally we currently lie 16th overall and there is still a very long way to go. Big thanks to the lads in the service crew for their hard work.

Where Saturday morning will see us have a ceremonial start at Vipingo Ridge straight into a spector special prolouge stage around Vipingo which can be viewed live here by the link

Before We head off to Mombasa to start the rally first full day of rallying starting off with a gruling 120km stage.

It's been a busy morning in the garage putting the gearbox back in doorsmore. Big thanks to Brian Stubbs the superstar for giving me a lift in with it!

As the prep starts for Carmarthen Motor Club jaffa stages, where fellow Motorsport UK Academy codriver Rhys Edwards will be sat in the silly seat guiding me round for a bit of jolly festive action.

Last weekend I was lucky enough to go with M-Sport to the penultimate round of WRC - FIA World Rally Championship, Central European Rally through an opportunity with the Motorsport UK Academy.

What a fantastic opportunity to work amongst a team at the top level in the sport. Learning how the team operates on a weekend of an event.

Working as part of Meteo Crew, resulted in an opportunity to explore the three countries the rally was based across and getting a great insight into how much of a critical part a small group with in a team can make up, definitely one of the lesser known about tasks within the sport that can make such a difference.

And of course I had to get the Mull Rally bobble hat in!

Now back to reality and back to the codrivers seat this weekend on the The Malton Forest Rally along side Micheal Mcdaid seeded car 11 can't wait to be back in the woods in a historic mk2 Es**rt!

So then, no competing this weekend for me. Instead it is something completely new. Meteo Crew at Central European Rally with M-Sport more to follow when I'm back.

Carlisle Stages Rally 16th overall 🥇in class
We limped through the day going between 3 cylinders and 4 cylinders meaning we couldn't commit when we were on 4 as we didn't know when we were going to drop back on to 3.

With that seen the Scottish Rally Championship draw to a close, where Jordan Anderson Rallying took claim to 🏆 C5 win and 🏆 in the Subaru cup.

Out of the 6 rounds we competed on we had 5 wins out of 6 in the subaru cup and the same in C5 class. Jord a fair pilot with plenty of moments and even a fall out with a tree on the RSAC Scottish Rally resulting in my chances of a championship going down the drain. A massive well done to Gary McDonald for taking the championship win and Mike Moates for guiding him round had a great laugh with you all year on and off the stages!

A massive thanks to Jordan's dad, Stewart for all your endless hours in prep work and help in service and Martin as well for all your help through the year.

All set for the Carlisle Stages Rally the final round of the Scottish Rally Championship sat along side Jordan Anderson Rallying.

Really starting to look forward to my biggest challenge yet, the East African Safari Classic Rally where I'll be sat along side Iain Dobson in his Mk1 RS1600.

Mull Rally

It was Andy Woodward first time behind a MK2 in anger on a rally and it was a pleasure to sit beside him in the WMD Motorsport prepared car.

Friday's first leg seen us build confidence in the car and get to grips with rear steer and we're starting to build a little more at ease following an interesting shakedown leaving us 41st overall over night.

On to Saturday and the pace was building and Andy's confidence in the car had grown, back in the day light seen us climb up to 25th overall.

Saturday night and the final leg of the event and we are still climbing up the leaderboard with some excellent times in the first couple of stages going into the first run of the longest stage of the event we were lying 23rd overall. When we went over a jump a little bit to hard and damaged a rear damper dropping 5 minutes in stages while we assessed the damage to limp through to service.

The service crew did a fantastic job of changing both rear dampers and welding the exhaust back on and getting us back out to finish the event all with in the 30 minutes so a massive thanks goes to the lads in the service area.

In the second loop of the leg we were back out and trying to get a little bit of the 5 minutes we dropped back, setting some fantastic stages even a 16th fastest over the second pass of the longer stage we encountered our issue on earlier in the leg. Meaning we climbed back up to finish 33rd Overall

A special mention has got to go to the luckiest crew on the event Chris Woodward and Josh Beer having 2 spins one going up the Glen and the other on the side of Tuath and not damaging the car on either, well done Torvill and Dean!

With all 4 WMD Motorsport cars finishing the event the Woodward family can be very pleased.

And a massive thanks to Pete for keeping us all fed and watered across the week.

Trackrod Rally Yorkshire Historic Cup

After a stall on the Friday night stage costing us the best part of a minute, we had a little bit of work to do yesterday to climb back up the standings, setting some good stage times yesterday, finishing up 9th overall.

A big thanks to Michael for having me sat in on the event with him, it was great to be back in the woods in a MK2. A big thanks to Mark McCaffrey and Martin in service and having a good laugh all weekend.

The prep work now turns to my 20th event of the year Mull Rally In a few weeks times.

A eventful day out on Galloway Hills Rally along side Jordan Anderson Rallying. Still managing to take the class 🥇in the Scottish Rally Championship and 🥇in the subaru cup.

Big thanks to the lads in service for getting her sorted for the second loop, and a good drive my Jordan to take maximum points away from the event.

Good day out yesterday in the ☀️ with WMD Motorsport grabbing a little bit of seat time in a couple of great cars. Looking forward to being back on tarmac next month.

Great day out yesterday on Old Forge Garage Mewla Rally 2023 , my first time over epynt. Great to be back out in a mk2 with plenty of sideways cheers to Alyn for having me in with him and the lads for getting the car back in shape for us to go back out and carry on!
