For the Rotarians of Thames Valley, The Rotary Foundation's Vocational Training team model has allowed them to experience something they previously could have never imagined - making regular visits to Uganda to train hundreds of medical staff in emergency birth skills! 🤰

Ten years on from their first visit, Faringdon Rotarian Karen Eveleigh reflects on her most recent trip to the hospitals of Uganda as part of the team.

I'm curious, what do you consider the most valuable benefit of being part of Rotary International?

For me, the advantages are clear:

1️⃣ Global Reach: Rotary enables us to make a significant impact in communities around the world.

2️⃣ Professional Growth: Membership offers opportunities for leadership development and expanding professional networks.

3️⃣ Community Engagement: Being a part of Rotary means working alongside a diverse group of leaders committed to service.

What would you add to the list? I encourage you to explore what membership in Rotary could look like for you: on.rotary.org/3VADezj

In Singapore, I shared 5 ways we can revolutionize Rotary International:

1️⃣ Make your club brand new: Identify and address your club's unique challenges.
2️⃣ Embrace new club models: Explore innovative approaches to club structure.
3️⃣ Focus on achieving more by doing less: Concentrate resources on well-planned projects informed by community assessments.
4️⃣ Look for and find allies everywhere: Build partnerships that amplify our impact.
5️⃣ Embrace new technologies: Leverage digital tools to enhance our reach and effectiveness.

Growing our membership is central to our ability to evolve and make a difference. It’s up to each of us to take these steps and inspire others to join our mission. How can you use these ideas to grow and strengthen your club?

Wessex Rotary Shoe Box Scheme

The 2021 Shoebox project is well under way with our local schools.
We would now like to extend an invitation to you, your families and friends to participate in the project by donating filled Shoeboxes to supplement the excellent work being done by our local schools.

This is a project that most Rotary Clubs in the Wessex Region support. Children in our local schools, youth groups, and others, will fill a shoebox with small gifts and educational items, suitable for a number of age groups. The shoeboxes are then gathered and transported by Rotary Clubs to areas such as Montenegro, Albania and Tanzania, where they are distributed by local Rotarians to disadvantaged children in time for Christmas.

If you'd like to join in then just message us for more details and we'll send you the leaflet and let you know where to drop off your box.
