Train Like a Mother Training and Nutrition
Personal Training and Nutrition
Just Eileen South aka SAF casually pressing 15kg recently in the beautiful barn at Berry Farm Cotswolds 💪💪💪
9 months ago Eileen joined Farm Fit after a recommendation from her friend, she described herself as ‘very unfit’ over 50 Small Group PT sessions later and here she is!
Starting something new is hard, it’s uncomfortable and nerve-wracking. This is why I’m introducing a new Thursday Small Group Session at 6pm and prioritising newbies.
Want to start using weights but don’t know where to start? If you are recovering from injury, if you’ve been blessed with a baby recently then this is a session just for you! I’ve got 6 spaces in this session and 4 are reserved for new clients who are nervous about getting started with exercise but know they should!
Email me at [email protected] and let’s start the conversation.
Todays Friday Fad alert!! Bold claims, glossy advertising and a bit of science sounding language…..

This is a first- a bit about my business name and where it came from! Train Like a Mother is the ‘ family friendly’ version - the sentiment has always been ‘Train Like a Mother F***er’ !
I have a natural affinity for other Mums because, frankly we totally rock! Juggling enormous loads, both seen and unseen with dignity, often very little help and bu**er all recognition. I love training Mums, I used to be mobile and rock up with a boot full of kit, grab a baby and give the Mum some training while I fed, cuddled, rocked, played peekaboo etc with various lush small people. Nowadays I’m based at Berry Farm and train awesome women and men- male clients often try to tell me that I need to change my business name- sorry that’s a no, Train Like a Mother means the world to me and frankly if a name puts anyone off, come and give me a try and see if the training I offer is just ‘for Mums’ if you do, strap yourself in because Mums work hard, train hard and help raise the next generation, often before breakfast 🤣
Just posted this on my personal pages- how is food labelling changing your perspective on food if at all?
On February 14th I posted that I was offering a free PT session for someone who wouldn’t normally feel able to join me in the Barn. This utter babe reached out and I am so pleased she did!
Amen to this!!!
This is why well-being education needs to take place in schools. As a significant part of the timetable. Not a tiny part of the PSHE provision. Which has so much to cover all ready! 😬
We need to be talking to parents about how to help. How to be present. How to step away from modern tech.
We need to address the language we use around mental health. Worry is normal…. Anxiety is hard.
We need to be educating children, about their internal narrative….
We need to be teaching children and parents how to manage symptoms and help support themselves and each other
We need to understand that some of this is trauma related, and these children need love, time, and compassion in abundance.
We need to educate young people about social comparisons
We need to be supporting those who are struggling with life. It’s not ok, we have have families that are hungry.
We need to be doing this together…. Time to write the Beanology syllabus??
Time for change!
Strong. Powerful. Capable. Determined. @ Happiest when Outdoors showing her class as usual in todays session! 💪💪💪
Strength Training for Evolution Running Club today! Some great work by everyone in attendance and as ever with these lovely lot, fun and laughter too. Running is a high impact, demanding activity and strength training is vital to prevent injury and make your running more efficient and probably a bit faster too! I shared some Nutrition tips and yummy recipes with these guys too, fuelling those runs is important.
Happy Weekend! I’m running a Small Group PT session at 7am on Easter Monday and currently have some spaces if anyone fancies it???
Strength Training can lead to increased awesomeness…..
Strength training with is having some rather positive effects on my paddling.
While the initial driver was overall strength and fitness for Kilimanjaro adventures in October, I suddenly find I’m rather comfortable paddling my 14’ x 26’ race board finally. A whole lot less of the wobbles!
Now you know I don’t mind the wobbles. The ‘embrace the wobble’ has become the SUP yoga mantra but long distance wobbles is a whole different kettle of fish and I really don’t fancy a cold Thames dunk. It’s amazing what a difference a couple of inches makes….
I’m after paddling partners!
Long distance. Sprints. Lake 86, a river or a canal. If you’re keen to get out and build on your fitness then give me a holler!

Amazing feedback from Stan 😍😍
Back in February I posted this and I’m so pleased that Sharryn and Stan got in touch, both have made brilliant starts to 1:1 PT and Small Group PT respectively.
If you need a compassionate, gentle approach to feeling stronger and getting a bit more active then please get in touch!
Do you think that frozen fruit and vegetables aren’t somehow as ‘good for you’ as fresh? Rest assured, frozen is just as good! With food prices rising, eating a rainbow of colours through fruits and vegetables can still be achieved by getting creative. This yummy frozen vegetable mix is from Lidl and has enough flavour to make a tasty meal. I added canned tuna to mine but most protein sources will work well if you want to add them . Serve on its own or with rice/noodles to add in more carbs or just to make it go further.
Back in the Barn after an awesome weekend of children, awards and then some relaxation. Kathy finished her session with Bear crawls today, a tough Bodyweight movement designed to challenge the abdomen, shoulders, legs and brain- especially the backwards variation!
Tonight was all about the girls!!
Kay Coe looking ripped and deadlifting beautifully, Claire Smith showing off her classy form and Eileen South bossing her first ever Deadlifts with beautiful form!
Round 2 saw the babes Siyana Sykes and Eve Dunlop smashing out their push press and Deadlifting beautifully whilst gazing into each others eyes 🏋🏻♀️🏋️🏋🏼♂️
Rug up well people! It’s a bit wet and windy tonight at the Farm 🐑🐑🐑
Happy Valentines Day !!
I have 3 personal training slots available for this week that I would like to gift to people who would otherwise be too nervous or uncertain to start their health and fitness journey. I want nothing in return for these slots, I have the time and would love to use it to help people rather than scrolling on Facebook.
Either comment on this post or send me a message and we'll get the session booked in.
Done!! Thank you to everyone who encouraged me to enter and provided wonderful testimonials 😍😍😍
Amazing check in call with a Nutrition client today! Such a great mindset, brilliant planning and a compassionate approach to meals out she has planned 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Comment of the night tonight courtesy of Kay ‘the destroyer Coe’ when asked how she was feeling and if anything hurt from her previous session ‘ just my arms and legs ‘ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
