Tandem driving must be the daftest way to drive two horses... and incredibly difficult. It's seriously tricky to ask the front/lead horse to go faster and to slow down the wheel horse, the one pulling the carriage, to stop them from going into the lead horse!
I have enormous respect for carriage drivers who can do it.

Gigi says; "Steph, I think you've harnessed up the wrong way. I'm supposed to be next to Bob, not smelling his bum!"

What amazing weather for carriage driving. It's so good to be able to drive all year round on surfaced off road tracks in the beautiful Cotswolds.

Cotswold Carriage Driving updated their business hours.

It's brilliant to get back driving with clients again and showing people how to drive in a kind way with the horses. The bluebells are starting to come out along the off-road surfaced byways and look so pretty. We took the wagonette out along the Fosse Way byway this week pulled by Archie and Bob - see the photo. Lovely to see the leaves slowly emerging along the tracks. It's such fun taking the horses out carriage driving. They love it too! After the ice had gone, we managed to do our first carriage drive of the year last week, taking Archie and Lady Gigi out for an hour's drive on the off-road tracks, with my husband as groom. Gigi who has been out riding, was as calm as ever. Archie was full of enthusiasm for the first quarter mile, then got back into the swing of it. They clearly enjoyed their trip out. This is a lovely photo taken by Jo Hansford last summer. A great photographer! So looking forward to Spring!
