We had a visit today from the daughter one of our service user who passed way. She brought in treats (and oh my what a treat they are )And a thank you card for the outstanding care her dad received from staff and branch staff before he passed. She said without us he would not have had a better ending she is forever grateful for the effort from maryjane in getting him extra care and extra support from OT and the team for always carrying out the care in a professional way but adapted to how her dad preferred.

Congratulations to Kerry Lawson who is our Carer of the Month for July! Kerry hadn't worked in a job before starting with us and was very anxious and nervous about having her first job. Kerry has blossomed and her confidence has grown so much within her job role. Her service users all adore her and only have amazing things to say about her. Kerry deserves the recognition for her hard work and smiles and laughs she brings to service users and her colleagues. Kerry got emotional receiving this as it meant so much to her to be recognised for doing so.

In the Dundee we received lovely thank you card and chocolates from the son of a service user who passed last weekend. Hand delivered to the office.

Positive feedback to the team in Dundee 🌟🌟🌟

Quality Care Services - I wanted to leave the girls positive feedback. I felt more at ease with mum going away knowing that they would still be there to support me. I feel safe in their care and I no longer worry about who’s coming in and what’s going to happen to me.

I was really unwell the Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon. I was really struggling to breathe and it can be frightening. Chloe and Beth have seen me like that often enough now that they know what to do without me having to say too much. If I’m struggling to breathe I will also struggle to get my words out. They help by either getting me the full face mask and/or calling the nurse for an injection. They don’t stress or panic which helps me stay calm which is really important to keep my breathing under control. So I’m very grateful to them and the rest of the girls for their support and understanding. Especially while mum was away.

A lot of my work is misunderstood, some thinks it is menial, and that I’m no good.

People have respect and don’t make assumptions, I provide care, reassurance and support in abundance.

There is more to care work than wiping a bum, this stigma upsets me and should be undone.

I chose to pursue a job in this sector, there isn’t a job I can find that is better.

I finish the day knowing I’ve made a difference, the fulfilment I get is a joyful experience.

Next time someone says ‘you just work in care’, I should correct them for they’re unaware.

Sad day in Dundee

Last week we said goodbye to one of our long term carers.

Ashley has worked as a carer for 6 and half years as bank staff but is having her second child. She felt that working in a full time position and doing shifts for us is going to be too much. We all wish Ashley the very best when her new bundle of joy comes along and best wishes for her future. On the plus side she brought us all cakes
