The upcoming Public Holiday Monday 22nd July 2024 and a large demand for appointments is impacting appointment access.

Appointments directly before and after the public holiday will bookable on the day. We do have pre-bookable routine appointments from the 1st August 2024.

Please consider; is it truly urgent that you see a GP today or could you book one of our routine appointments?
These can be booked up to one month ahead.

We can only call patients back if it is an emergency for that day.

Reception staff will ask for details regarding why you are calling today, this is to assist in managing demand.

12.15pm update- MOST services are now working unfortunately we are still unable to process any prescription requests. Please be advised that any requests received since Friday will not be ready for coillection in the usual 48 hours, please allow at least an additional 24 hours.

MAJOR IT ISSUES - Unfortunately there are major technical (IT) issues across Tayside Practices this morning. We ask for your patience as we are currently unable to process prescriptions, with other systems also having intermittent issues. These issues are outwith our control and we are awaiting a timescale update.

Muirhead Medical Centre have a team of 20 running or walking Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK😄 We are aiming to raise £700 as a team for this worthy cause whose pioneering work into how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer has benefitted millions of lives over the past 120 years.

MUIRHEAD TEAM 1 Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work.

Can we request that patients wishing to know if prescriptions are ready for collection from pharmacies ensure they contact the pharmacy direct in person or by phone before contacting the surgery. Large volumes of calls to the surgery re this are clogging up phone lines.

Update- 12.54 a number of roads are now closed in the surrounding area. We will be running a reduced service in order to get staff home safely. Please only attend if absolutely necessary .

The Medical Centre will be open today in some capacity (we don’t yet know how many staff we will have in), but many of the local roads are affected by flooding. Please take care and only travel if necessary. road issues; Gourdie Brae/Myrekirk. Outside Co-op/Asda and Liff Road. There is a car stuck on the approach to the surgery on Liff Road.

**STORM BABET UPDATE - Angus site closures**

The Met Office has now extended the red rain warning into western parts of Tayside including areas of Perth and Kinross and Dundee.

*Stracathro Hospital: The hospital will close at 6pm today and will be closed all day tomorrow, reopening as usual on Monday.

All outpatient appointments are now cancelled so please do not travel to attend an outpatient appointment at Stracathro.

*Whitehills HCCC and Arbroath Infirmary will close for outpatients at 4pm today and will be closed tomorrow. The inpatient ward at Whitehills, and maternity and renal units at Arbroath Infirmary will remain open.

*Links Health Centre in Montrose will close at 12.30pm today and will be closed tomorrow. The GP practice remains open as usual.

We have been advised that a 4 way traffic control will be in place at the Liff Road/Coupar Angus road/ Edward Place junction during these road works. Please allow extra time if driving to your appointment.

Update 8/9/23 CAR PARK - PATIENT USE ONLY - GATES LOCKED 6pm EACH EVENING

Please note that we can no longer allow weekend community parking, therefore please note that the Practice Gates will be locked from 6pm each Friday until each Monday 8am. We regret we've had to take this decision because of misuse of the carpark.

We are delighted to introduce Dr Sarah McLuckie, our new GP Partner.

Dr McLuckie graduated from Dundee University in 2016 and worked within secondary care. She completed her GP training in 2021, working as a GP within Tayside and joined the practice in May 2023
