Studying: International Business

Being part of DUCC has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and it’s given me some friends for life. I can’t wait to be part of the committee again and I’m so excited to see what next year brings us!

My favourite memory from this year has to be welcome night. It’s always a really fun social and was such a great way to get to know everyone in the club.

Whether it’s a completely new sport for you or you’ve been doing it for years, if you’re thinking about joining cheer you should definitely give it a go! Joining a sports club at uni is a great way to meet new people and learn some new skills!

Studying: Anatomical Sciences

Cheer has been my favourite part of uni by far! It’s so much fun and a great way to make friends, so far i’ve had the best time!

My favourite memory would be the night out after the last competition, it was a great way to celebrate a fab year and I had so much fun!

Message to freshers: Don’t be scared to join a sports club, I didn’t know anyone in cheer when I joined but everyone is so friendly and welcoming and I have made so many friends!!

Studying: International Relations + Politics

I cannot wait for the next season of cheer to start, joining cheer was by far the best part of my first year at uni and one of the few good decisions I made throughout the year 😂

I have too many favourite memories to choose from but I loved the atmosphere at the competitions and I feel like it really bonded the teams! Also we had so many fun socials last year two of my favourites were after varsity and the prison break night (allen dragging me about all night 🙄)

Coming from someone who was a fresher last year just try everything. It can seem scary and daunting but all the sports teams (especially cheer) are so welcoming and I can’t imagine my uni experience without it and the amazing friends I have made. Even if you have never tried it come give it a go and you might surprise yourself! ❤️

Next years treasurer is our amazing Charlotte!

This is my fourth year at DUCC and I can’t wait!!! I have made the best of friends that I could ever ask for through the club and it has been such a core part of my uni life. From competing to nights out I have made the best memories!

For any incoming freshers my top bit of advice is just say yes! Give everything a try! I had not done cheer before I started uni and now I could not imagine my life without it!

My name is Ellie Cleland and I am your new secretary. This is my 3rd season as a dragon and I am so excited for the year ahead!

Cheer has been my favourite part of uni as I have made so many great friends and made so many memories. My favourites ones being the competitions and the nights out after them. I would tell the new freshers to definitely come along to our give it a go classes and don’t be scared! I didn’t know anyone when I started but everyone is so welcoming🤍

Cheer has honestly been such an incredible part of my university experience and it has been a great way to meet some really amazing people. I’m so excited to see the club grow and to hopefully do really well in the competitions next year.

My favourite memory this year was competing in our first competition. I’ve never done cheer before coming to uni and the atmosphere was incredible.

Even if you haven’t done cheer before don’t be scared to join. It’s a great opportunity to learn new skills and met new people.

I’m so excited for the next season of cheer and to be a part of the committee!! Cheer is a great club with such a fun, welcoming group of girls and the socials are always chaos🤠I’m excited to compete at the competitions again next year, they make all the best memories🫶🏼

Favourite memory is for sure meeting the Oompa Loompa from the Glasgow W***y Wonka experience at one of our fundraising events this year😂😂😂

I would definitely recommend joining the club to anyone who’s interested as it’s an amazing club, ive met so many new friends through it and its definitely the highlight of my uni experience I honestly regret not joining sooner🎀🤞🏼❤️

My favourite memory was the prison break night, it was so funny being handcuffed to the other members and we were giggling the whole night. Or the welcome night being blue in the club was interesting 😂

Something you wish you knew when you first got to UoD:
Everyone is in the same boat and although it seems scary you have got to put yourself out there because people won’t judge you and you will make friends for life
