✨Focus Group with Dr Steve Land ✨

Dr Land has recently taken on a senior advisor position in The School of Life Sciences and aims to seek greater understanding of the issues surrounding Life Sci students🔬

ALL students from all years are invited to take part in year-specific focus groups with Dr Land. 🛋️We hope you can candidly share your Uni experience thus far and tell us how we as a School can support your studies and personal well-being better 🤗

Academic Integrity is incredibly important, but compared to your degree, it’s probably not the subject you’re most interested in. That doesn’t mean it has to be boring!
 
If you are interested in learning about academic integrity in a unique and interactive way, then join us at 12pm BST on the 19th of October for the IDOA International Day of Action Against Contract Cheating conference to get a taster of our academic integrity escape room! 🔍

Feeling burned out because of endless lectures and assignments? 🤯Take this Thursday evening off and meet other SLS students in an academic-free, relaxing environment! 🥳😎

The quiz will be on 🗓24th March from 6-8pm at the Liar in DUSA (Level 3), and there is no need to sign up- just show up in teams of 2-6 (or alone if you want us to assign you to a group!), and there is a prize 🏆for the winning team!

We will use Kahoot! so make sure your phones have plenty of battery, and we will have a wide variety of fun categories such as sports🏃🏽, geography🗺, random knowledge, entertainment🍿, life sciences and even a TV show theme musical round🎼!

We will start at 6:30pm but do come earlier to get the chance to get settled, order food and get the competitive spirit going!

🥳Following our Graduate Jobs Careers Fair held on 2 March, we are back with the Further Education Careers Fair being held on 23 March. Ee can’t wait for you to join us next Wednesday on Microsoft Teams and learn about the various Further Education routes! 👩🏽‍🎓🧑🏼‍🎓

🏆 A huge congratulations to the winners of the Class of 2022 Honours Project Symposium Awards! There were many different awards up for grabs, including best symposium performance and best competitive talk, with winners from the different degree routes in the School of Life Sciences🏆

🔬In case you weren’t aware, the Honours Project Symposium is an annual event where the students can showcase their honours projects, and selected competitive talks are given. It’s something exciting to look forward to if you’re in the younger years! 🔬

⁉️Did you know that physics also plays a fundamental role in medicine, also known as Medical Physics? If you find that this is something that appeals to you come along to the Introduction to Radiotherapy Physics Seminar given by Dr. Salam Souliman a now-retired Radiotherapy consultant and a mentor with Project Scotland.

This talk will involve how Medical Physics supports medicine in treatment, diagnosis, and prevention. Some of the known ones include Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, and imaging for diagnosis. 💊

Venture 2022 is a new business ideas competition with a prize fund of £44,000 across 8 categories. The competition welcomes all University of Dundee students, staff and recent graduates of up to 5 years to take part.

Winners will be offered a place on Elevator's Dundee Accelerator Programme and there will also be 4 iPads given away on the day of the final (Friday 25 February 4-6pm) thanks to Converge Challenge. The iPads will be awarded to those with the best pitches as voted on by the public audience.

The deadline for applying is 23:59 on Tuesday 1 February.
