Dundee University Karate Club

👏 We were delighted to host a joint training session with Dundee University Karate Club tonight at Saints Sport - University of St Andrews.

Great to collaborate and thanks to Sensei Dan Woods and Sensei Peter Stanton for the session.

This Sunday (5th February) we're starting a weekly conditioning class. Using the latest research and advice from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, we'll be covering a wide variety of areas and cater to many different needs. No gi required, just clothes to exercise in! We'll be in ISE Studio 1 from 4-5pm.

Tomorrow is our last free give it a go session for this semester. We're hoping for a bring a buddy session and will be focussing on paired exercises. All you need to bring is clothes to exercise in and water

Our free taster sessions for semester two are coming up! If you're in any way unsure about why to train karate, a small number of many benefits are highlighted on the second slide. All you need is a water bottle and clothes to work out in! Hope to see many new and returning faces! ☺️

Training starts back up this coming Tuesday and our give it a go sessions officially start this Saturday! Hope to see you all at training again soon!

Recently at training we've been doing plenty of kata and kihon to give all our new students the fundamentals they need for their very first grading. Exciting stuff!

From the 20th of September to the 1st of October we will be running completely free classes twice a week. The training in open to everyone from experienced fighters to complete beginners. Training times are as follows:

Lets us know if you are interested in competing at BUCS this year by Saturday the 5th. The BUCS Karate Championship involves two karate competitions that students take part in:

➡️ Kata - this has three different levels dependent on students experience

➡️Kumite - this is based on students weights and experience.

BUCS Karate Championships will take place the 12th-13th of March 2022 at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, accommodation and transportation will be organised by the club.

Hi everyone!

I hope you’ve all enjoyed the give it a go’s over the last week and a bit, it was great to see so many new faces! This is the dreaded email about paying for membership, by next Monday (11.10.21) you will need to have matriculated and have payed for membership with the club and the SU to attend. SU membership is £10 and we are currently charging £27.5 a semester. The link for this can be found here: https://uod.ac.uk/su-matric

Additionally, you will need at least a sports membership with the ISE or you will be charged a small fee per session by them.
