The Speech Language Communication Company
Our Scottish registered charity supports children who experience difficulties and disabilities related to speech, language and communication.
Our aims are:
To help develop speech and language for children and young people — making sure every child can access quality support when they need it. To support families: children, parents, carers, siblings, grandparents — making sure everyone gains confidence, opportunities and key skill. To promote the rights and social inclusion of children — making sure families are informed and included.
🌟 Our clubs encourage independence and self-reliance in children, empowering them to take ownership of their learning, decisions, and goals. 🌟
By fostering a supportive environment, we help children build the confidence to achieve their full potential.

Does your child have unclear speech?
It can be difficult to understand what they are trying to say. Be sure to NOT correct them by telling them they are wrong. This will effect their confidence and stop them from practicing speech sounds.
Instead, if you know what they are saying, repeat the word back to them clearly - you are their role model.
There are other ways to help your child develop their speech sounds - get in touch to find out more, our advice & support is free!

CAMHS Conversations : An Exploration of Speech, Language & Communication Needs...
“Emerging research suggests round 80% of children and young people with social, emotional & behavioural difficulties have an unidentified speech, language, communication need (SLCN).” In our latest podcast we talk with CAMHS Speech & Language Therapist, Judy Whitefield. We might be quick to dismiss the possibility of an SLCN being at the heart of some of the difficulties our children & young people experience. In this podcast Judy explains how emotional dysregulation, challenging behaviour, difficulties with learning and socialising could be linked to an SLCN and how with understanding and the right strategies, most children and young people can thrive without a need for specialist intervention. Does any of the above sound familiar, give it a listen and share!
