A Red, Red Rose shaving soap and aftershave splash, inspired by the great Scottish poet Robert Burns.

The latest shaving soap and aftershave splash from The Gentleman's Groom Room Dundee, A Red, Red Rose was inspired by our national Poet "Rabbie" Burns. The Gentleman's Groom Room owner passes a statue of Burns every day on the way to the store. The statue is by Sir John Robert Steell, the eminent Victorian sculptor and was unveiled in Dundee, Scotland in 1880, just two weeks after the first one was unveiled in Central Park, New York, USA. For his sculpture Steell closely followed the portrait of Robert Burns painted by Alexander Nasmyth in 1787. Two other casts were later commissioned for the statue in London, England (1884) and Dunedin, New Zealand (1887).

This fabulous fragrance has top notes of RED ROSE, Pink Rose and Geranium, a middle of Grass, on a base of Wood and Spice.

The return of Castle Forbes Keig! Having been unavailable from the castle for a while, we are pleased to welcome Keig Eau de Parfum back to our shelves at The Gentleman's Groom Room. A pleasure to meet German perfumer Erik Kormann this weekend on a visit to our store, The Gentleman's Groom Room of Dundee. Erik is the creator of some well loved scents within the wet shaving community such as Steampunk and Abraka Barber.

Nobile 1942 premium fragrance Rudis, everything about this product exudes class from the packaging to the fragrance itself.

Rudis is the name given as a trophy to victorious gladiators, a wooden sword, that was a tool but also a symbol of freedom: the gladiator is not a slave anymore!

To overcome his fear before entering the arena, gladiator drunk a cider made of dried fruit and grape.

But why are we talking about gladiators in 21th century? Massimo Nobile thinks that today, all professionists and business people have their own battle to win. That’s why they created a fragrance that give energy for their fight, in a mental and in a physical way. The scent inspired by this object, therefore, had to simultaneously consider strength and gentleness, battle and freedom, life and death, virility and weakness.

The box is precious: only five artisans in the world can work leather in this way.

The process of realization takes long time and it starts with taking leather and soaking it. Then, with a piece of wood with the same shape of the bottle used ad a guide, they take the still wet leather and wrap the first side around wood and bake it in a kiln. The next step is to soak leather again, following the same process for each side and curves that form the box. After this intricate process, you cannot see the joints or stitches, and leather is hard like a piece of wood. In the last step, it is lacquered and cut into salami- like slices before being worked internally. The box can only be closed in one way, depending on how it was cut. There are two points which form a guide to close the lid correctly.

Top notes: bergamot, dried fruits, fruity notes, wine. Heart Notes: rose, geranium, cloves, saffron, cedarwood. Base notes: leather, patchouli, vetiver, incense, musk, helicrysium
