Hetton Inter U10's
Grassroots football team based out of Hetton Juniors Football Club in the North East of England
RFYL U10 PREM V WASHY NAVY
A match up of two teams who like to try and play football and a close fought encounter was expected.
Desire to win the ball was high on both sides but the spirit of the game was excellent from both.
Inter started relatively well but then switched off and allowed a short corner and then didnโt get close enough to stop the attacker getting a shot at goal and it went in at the front post.
Inter created chances in the first half and it felt like a goal was coming as chances came and went, eventually Zac Cummings got us on level terms.
Navy looked dangerous too and had quite a few free kicks at our goal which we managed to keep out on more than one occasion.
After equalising Inter shot themselves in the foot losing possession around our own box and the Navy attacker got his second of the game.
The second half followed a similar theme, chances came and went but we didnโt show the composure/quality to get an equaliser.
Navy running out winners by the odd goal in 3.

*High Level U11 Xmas Tournament*
We again entered the year above high level tournament to challenge and test the team one last time before the end of the year.
With the teams involved it was a big challenge with the premier league leaders from both sides of the water taking part.
The group games got underway and in a tight and competitive group we came through our four games unbeaten and with no goals conceded.
The conditions were atrocious and as such the fourth semi finalist decided to leave the tournament leaving Wideopen Wolves, Foundation of Light Reds & ourselves in the semi finals. With Wideopen pipping the other teams to first spot in the group they were given a bye to the final and we played FOL in the semi final.
The semi final was extremely competitive with both teams having chances. Our boys battled throughout against some top quality opponents and the full time whistle was blown and the scores were tied 0-0.
Penalties incoming - our 3 volunteers were
Corey, Oliver G & Blake.
Both teams scored 2/3 so in sudden death Luka saved the penalty and Junior dispatched his to put us into the final.
Wideopen in the final was always going to be a big ask. They play superb football and comjng into the final fresh we were ready for a gutsy hard working effort to see what we could produce.
Wideopen had the majority of possession without really testing our keeper, in the final seconds of normal time we missed a sitter to win the game when Oliver L and Corey got in each others way at the back post with goal gaping.
Golden Goal also brought no winner!!
PENS AGAIN!
What a shootout it was, ending 9-8 to Wideopen who ended up with the winners trophy in there hands.
Our kids were superb, a years age gap, frozen and soaked through to do what they did against the two top U11 teams in the region was a fantastic effort.
Final games of 2023 tomorrow when we again enter the ProMotiv8 high level U11 Christmas tournament.
Playing a year up we did superb to win the Bonfire night event so we will go there tomorrow with nothing to lose and to enjoy the challenge of playing the best teams from the region.
๐ป
The run up to Christmas has meant no league games for us at U10 or 11 through the week so we have been busy filling in the schedule until the big man comes on Monday.
Wednesday we hosted Cramlington Whites at Kepier school and produced a very accomplished performance against a team and coaches of familiar faces.
Friday we are hosting a mini round robin with Harton Panthers U10 & Seaham Red Star U11.
Then finally we have been invited to Escomb FC to play some futsal on Saturday morning.
A good week of action before a week off next week.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
WE GO AGAIN LOOKING TO RETAIN ๐
RFYL U10 v Easington
Game 11 of the season and our second game with Easington.
Most onlookers today would have expected a comfortable Inter win but we made sure we had the boys fully focused and ready to work hard from the start.
Easington started in a low defensive shape which made it tough to find space for our attackers. With a high % of possession the Easington goal was under pressure & Oliver Land struck the post & other guilt edged chances came and went.
As frustrations started to grow it was a case of deja vu from last weekend when Blake Irving broke the deadlock after a chance was blocked and it fell to him 10yards out and he made no mistake.
Joe Belshaw was second on the score sheet when he finished from close range after a smart team move created his opportunity.
Easington dug in and made sure no further goals were added before half time.
In the second half we were encouraged to move more, focus on striking the ball at goal with more conviction and making it a little bit harder for Easington.
The game continued in the same way as the first half, with guilt edged chances being wasted by our players, but we were persistent and Theo Anderson bagged the next goal with the goal of the day. Cutting in from the left and smashing a left footer high into the net past the keeper.
Isaac Daniel finished off the scoring when he volleyed home a corner after meeting the delivery quicker than anyone else.
Thatโs how the game ended and the festive break means that no more games will be played before January.
Well done to the boys for ending the year with a victory & thanks to all our sponsors and parents for 2023.

If anyone is looking to play Under 10s premier league football and is wanting a club contact Horden CW u10s - looking for players to help the current group.
See last weeks game report, have an extra player missing, add more goals conceded but a great strike from Max and youโll get an idea of how things went.
First half the lads defended resiliently against a talented Escomb side. Some excellent defending and superb saves from Oliver kept Escomb frustrated until about 15 minutes in when they eventually opened the scoring, they added a 2 more before half time but a great free kick from Max took us in at 3-1 down at half time but I was over the moon with the work rate and attitude from the kids against a team who won the Prem Spring Cup
Second half the kids had the wind knocked out of them, again Escomb attacking for the the majority of the game, more good defending and great saves from Oliver but we couldnโt manage to stop Escomb finding the back of the net unfortunately and they ran away with it
Itโs been very difficult for the kids consistently having to play with 6 or if weโre lucky a bare 7 players and against teams with the quality they have in the Premier Division. Credit to the boys who turn up week in week out and although games are difficult they give 100% effort, and to the parents who support the kids knowing their confidence is taking a battering.
We have a couple of weeks break now and hopefully everyone enjoys their Christmas and Santa brings us half a squad of new players for Christmas ๐

MOTM
Max and Oliver ๐
Max was liek the energiser bunny today, his attitude to football is refreshing and heโs a very hard worker, doesnโt let his head drop and always gives his all. Got himself a goal with a good free kick.
We could have had an advent calendar made of Oliverโs saves today, despite the scoreline he had an excellent game with countless stops.
Well done boys and hope you all have a great Christmas
Looking to host a friendly this Friday night at Kepier School, Houghton.
Pitch fee covered ๐

RFYL V WASHINGTON LIONS
We were matched up against Washington again this morning for the second time in a fortnight.
We knew Washington would be looking to give us a tougher test than the previous game and the first 15 minutes proved to be exactly that. A solid defensive unit and a lively pacy striker on the break meant we were frustrated in searching for the opener whilst being on our toes defensively.
The deadlock was eventually broken in style.
Blake received the ball just inside the Lions half with space to turn and for once the defenders allowed a bit of space, Blake traveled forward and unleashed a right footed strike which flew past the keeper high into the net.
This allowed the team to relax a little and continue to dominate the game as much as possible.
The second half started with Lions having a few shots from distance at our goal but Luka was focused and on his game to keep his clean sheet which he works hard for each week.
From here Inter raised the tempo and the goals became more regular.
Goals were added from Tom Parry, Oliver Land, Frank Robertson, Theo Anderson and Junior Watson who rounded the keeper after a lovely one two with Blake.
A range of different goal scorers and some nice patient football today, a game played in a great spirit from both sides and we wish Darren, Phil and the Lions boys a great Xmas!

Itโs been a while without a game so in advance of our league game with Washington tomorrow we enjoyed a fixture against Boro Rangers tonight to get the rust off.
A strong squad on the night showed no sympathy for the opponents with goals from
Oliver Land (2), Ashton Turner (3), Blake Irving & Tom Parry.
Boro competed throughout and looked dangerous on the break occasionally but Luka ended up with a clean sheet.
The ref who again was great chose Blake as the MOTM and he then chose NUMBER 15 as the winner of the ยฃ1000 bonus ball winner for Christmas!!!
RYFL Prem v Escomb Vikings
Barring our victory earlier this season I think every game for the last 4 seasons has been decided by one goal so today was always going to be a closely fought encounter.
Sadly for the Inter lads we were on the wrong end of a one goal defeat in the dying minutes when a low effort squirmed through into the corner of the net.
Inter had taken the lead with a goal scored by Zac Cummings who was superb for 50minutes alongside Isaac Daniel who also put in a great performance. Sadly it was a rare occasion where the rest of the outfield players struggled to get in the game or impose themselves on the opponents across the midfield and attacking areas.
Credit to Escomb for this, who got back into the game after around 40mins with the equaliser and this gave them the energy to push for a winner which came so late that Inter had no time to try and respond.
Overall the better team just shaded it and a deserved victory for Escomb.
RFYL U11 v Spennymoor
Back on the grass for the first time in 6 weeks. What a difference ๐
Mud, bobbles, offsides and a huge pitch
We somehow adapted to it and managed to get a comfortable victory In the end via an Ashton Turner hat trick and a Theo Anderson goal which continues our fine run in the 9v9 format.
Isaac Daniel and Zac Cummings players of the day - Excellent throughout. ๐
RFYL U11 LEAGUE CUP
AWAY V GATESHEAD FC PERFORMANCE
An away trip to Premier League Gateshead was our challenge in the last 16 of the cup this weekend.
Ashton Turner & Evan Delaney joined the boys from last night as we moved to the 9v9 set up & both contributed to the game well.
A tight game was expected, but as always we entered the game confident.
The scores remained level for the first 10min before Inter were awarded a free kick 20 yards out central. Isaac Daniel struck towards goal and the keeper palmed out to Joe Belshaw to set us on our way.
Blake Irving quickly added a second direct from a corner where the keeper palmed it in.
A quick fire double from Oliver Land just after half time made the game safe for Inter so the boys were challenged to remain in control and keep a clean sheet.
The game continued with Inter in control and playing some nice football in perfect conditions, further goals from Joe and Corey added to our lead before Ashton got a deserved goal to round off the victory.
A place in the Quarter Final was sealed and we look forward to the draw being made for the next round.
๐๐๐๐
A quite superb display this evening from the boys in our U10 league game v Washington Lions.
Every player looked to be at the top of their game and oozed confidence from the first to last whistle.
Our opponents have some talented individuals amongst their ranks but we made sure we limited any danger tonight with a controlled possession game at great intensity scoring some fantastic goals along the way.
Blake Irving kept himself amongst the goals with a Hat-trick of finishes, a brace from Corey Morrell - one a fantastic break away where our keeper has collected a ball in our box and bowls out to Oliver Gibson, a first time pass down the line to Blake and a left footed cross was smashed home by the onrushing Corey which had the spectators on both sides clapping ๐ all around the pitch.
Tom Parry & Oliver Land hit the net and a Joe Belshaw double capped off the display with a fully deserved victory for the lads.
The opposition man of the match was chosen as Isaac Daniel. Who put on a display of excellent defending and some superb passing across the pitch from a defensive position whilst driving forward with possession where possible.
Top Drawer stuff all round
Well Done everyone ๐

RFYL U10 PREM V Seaburn Juniors FC
Inter played Seaburn today and it was a game where two teams trying to play a nice style of football came up against each other.
Both teams pressed well to win the ball off each other in the early stages with little goal mouth action taking place.
It took a thunderbolt from Oliver Lands right foot to break the deadlock before Corey Morrell also hit a long distance strike past the Seaburn keeper to give Inter a comfortable gap.
Blake Irving added a third before half time.
The game continues to be played out in a superb manner with Isaac in the Inter goal making one save from a free kick which was hit well by the Seaburn player.
Oliver scored again, his third in 4 matches before Blake got his 10th of the season.
A back post goal for Theo Anderson ended the scoring on the day and Inter ended the game with a victory.
๐ต๐ก๐ต
Our delayed Under 11s cup match eventually went ahead tonight against North East Gunners at Ford Quarry Hub.
Both teams were desperate to get the game played after having it postponed for 3 weeks in a row, as a result Inter had some regular faces missing.
Zac Taylor again deputised for Luka in goal and showed his ability.
The game went smoothly for the boys but our finishing as a group was well below what the boys would expect.
Goals from (2) Corey Morrell, Blake Irving, Ashton Turner, Junior Watson & captain for the day Evan Delaney who was celebrating his 10th Birthday and didnโt put a foot wrong.
The result puts Inter into the last 16 of the league cup.

Winter fixture schedule for Under 10s Premier League, starting with Seaburn on Saturday.
๐จ๐ก๐๐๐ฅ ๐ญ๐ญ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ ๐
Inter entered the Game of Tournaments Bonfire Night tournament this afternoon playing against some of the best teams a year up and it didnโt disappoint! ๐ฅ
The entrants included teams flying high in the premier league Leon FC Whites, FOL & Pass Soccer along with Cumberland champions Cleator Moor.
The day started well winning our first game thanks to Frank Robertson & Blake Irving striking in the first half against Peterlee Helford. A clean sheet for the deputising Zack Taylor in goal.
Our second game was against one of the top Under 11 teams Foundation of Light who possess some high quality players so we expected a challenging game.
Inter dominated the first half but a lapse of concentration right on half time gifted FOL a lead & they scored a second to take the points.
It meant our third game was a must win v Cleator to qualify for the main knockout trophy.
Ashton Taylor the Hetton Haaland and Oliver Land put Inter in control and a great save from Zack kept Cleator out meaning we finished second in the group and would play the winners of the opposite group in the semi finals.
This proved to be Leon Whites FC. A team full of district players and a team who very rarely lose games. Being huge underdogs raised the levels of the lads and a spirited and skilled performance was needed.
HT 0-0.
Second half Inter counter attacked down the left and Tom Parry supplied a perfect cross to the back post for the on rushing Blake to crash it home and send the kids wild.
Inter didnโt look in any trouble but in the final 5 seconds Leon poked home an equaliser ๐ซฃ
PENS.. up stepped Corey, Tom & Blake.
Having faith in Zack to save at least 1 proved to be correct and our 3 lads held their nerve to win the shootout and send us to the final.
Leon players and coaches were a credit and very complimentary at Full Time.
This set up a rematch with FOL in the final & the boys knew if they made no silly mistakes the game was there to be won.
FOL started with sustained possession without testing Zack in goal.
HT 0-0.
A couple of substitutions added some energy and forward pressure from Inter and the deadlock was broken with a Zac Cummings OVERHEAD KICK!!!!
The image on Theoโs face was one of elation, surprise and amazement ๐
Within seconds Theo himself gambled at the back post and it paid off as he forced the ball over the line to put Inter 2-0 up.
The second half was mainly yellow pressure but no further goals were added at either end &
!!!!! INTER WERE CHAMPS !!!!
Of all the local tournaments we have been fortunate enough to have won this ranks as number 1 based on the level of the opponent and teams we had to beat in the knockouts to be successful!
A FULL SQUAD EFFORT ๐๐๐๐๐๐
After what feels like an eternity the boys get the matchday kits on again today competing in a tournament a year up at Downhill.
Hopefully it stays dry and everyone has a great day. Including the Hetton ๐งฑ Isaac whoโs celebrating his 10th Birthday today.
RFYL U10 v Harton Panthers
After a fortnight since our last league game it was eventually nice to get back on the go again and a game against Harton & Westoe Panthers.
Carrying a few injuries the team was selected and encouraged to play with energy and positivity - we donโt think they listened to either for the first 10mins ๐
Harton restricted our goal threat and did well to continue to break down our attacks without having too much joy attacking our goal.
A frustrating start was ended in superb fashion by Blake Irving when he received the ball with his back to goal in the left channel before turning and taking a small step inside and rifling into the far top corner of the Harton net. A great strike!
Joe Belshaw quickly made it 2 when he followed in after the keeper couldnโt hold a strike from Blake and doubled the lead.
Blake and Joe both got a second each to put the game out of sight for Inter.
The second half performance was a lot more sharp and controlling from Inter with 5 second half goals. Blake adding 2 more and Oliver Land striking home from the edge of the box.
A convincing performance with lots of room for improvement throughout.
The Inter MOTM for his quality of finishing
today which really helped his team was given to Blake.
Our U11 Cup Game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Hetton Academy.
๐จ๐ฆ
Just the one game this weekend and itโs a familiar opponent in Hetton Juve.
We hope to continue from our last outing on Sunday where the boys played exceptionally well against a MFC team on Teeside.
Kick off 8.30am Silksworth

A very much appreciated trip to Rockliffe today from Middlesbrough FC.
Our boys went and joined them and Bradford City in playing some U10 football on a glorious surface.
The boys played 2 games and ended up with 2 victories with some fantastic performances individually and as a collective unit.
Opportunities earned from lots of hard work and commitment over the years.
Thanks to Dean & Boro for the invite, great to see some familiar faces in action.

RFYL U10 PREM V SWE
Inters 100% record in the league came to an end this morning in a game where our habit of not taking our chances has eventually cost us.
Starting on the front foot Inter created a couple of half chances and looked to be in control.
The game turned against Inter after around 15 minutes when SWE created a good chance which wasnโt taken.
A few minutes later a long high ball from the half way line that shouldโve been dealt with by our defenders and keeper wasnโt and the SWE winger nipped in to bundle the ball in at the back post.
This gave SWE a boost and another long ball down the right channel ended with a high shot beating our keeper at the near post.
Both goals were unlike Inter and shouldโve been prevented.
This rallied Inter and a handful of chances inside the box came and went with loose balls not being poked over the line and a glorious chance right on half time was fluffed with the goal at our mercy.
Second half a shape change meant more possession for Inter but too many times our striker was isolated with no support.
A goal was scored when Tom Parry struck home a free kick and then what looked like a stonewall penalty wasnโt given and SWE managed to see the game out with a gutsy display.
Credit to SWE for getting over the line ๐
MOTM: BLAKE
An excellent performance as a lone striker where he caused the defenders lots of problems from start to finish.
Inter 2-1 Velocity
Our first trainer of the night award tonight went to Junior Watson. A competent and confident showing in his shiny new Pink bootsโฆ.
He rattled the woodwork 2-3 times in the small sided game at the end aswell as opening the scoring.
Positive in possession and worked tirelessly without.
All of the boys performed well in the technical stuff we did and it was tough to identify one player but in the end Junior just shaded it.
RFYL U10 Premier League: v Easington
Game 4 of the season saw us entertain Easington Boys U10.
The boys have played each other from u7 age group so both knew what to expect from the game.
The game started with Inter dominating possession and Easington being happy in a solid low block.
Inter struck the inside of the post through a drilled strike from Corey Morrell & the Easington keeper made some good saves whenever we broke through. Patience was key, ultimately the break came when a short corner ended up with Zac Cummings who tried his luck and the ball ended up in the Easington net to open the scoring in the first half.
Inter continued to probe with the greens of Easington following instructions well to keep the attackers at bay.
A key second goal arrived when Joe Belshaw finished well to the keepers left after a couple of sharper passes created the space.
The second half continued in the same fashion with Blake Irving, Oliver Land & Corey all hitting the crossbar at various times.
Corey eventually hit a third goal for Inter when he found space on the right to fire into the far corner.
The game ended at 3 and the 100% record was maintained after coming through a similar test for the third successive week of overcoming a deep lying team.
Well done Lads ๐ต๐ก๐ต
