Durham City Harriers & Athletics Club

Have New year's resolutions once again been knocked on the head? Have you tried several times to get into a new sport like running and struggled to stick with it. Have you been injured and struggling to come back to the sport?
Are you the kind of person that see people out running and says 'well that could never be me'.

Durham City Harriers are running a couch to 5km program starting this February 7th. We are a very friendly and social club, we can help you with our wealth of experience and expertise in athletics turn yourself from someone that can't run at all into someone that can run 5-10km distances and you'll do it as part of a group.

Our club has been running for over 50 years. Humans have been running for much longer. Come join us, no excuses, let's make 2023 the year you made the change.

It doesn't cost a dime either, this program is running for free.
If you are interested please fill in the below interest form and we'll see you on February 7th. We'll be running from the Maiden Castle sports centre so we are very local.

Elvet Bridge reopening! 🎉🤗🎉

Works on New Elvet Bridge are expected to be complete on Friday 22 October allowing the bridge to reopen to traffic and pedestrians.
We are in the final stages of works, including resurfacing and completing the protective coatings.

The bus gate which was introduced on Quarryheads Lane to maintain the reliability of public transport and ensure the safety of pedestrians, will be removed when the bridge re-opens.

Parking 🚗🚙 in Old Elvet is FREE after 2pm!
Elvet Bridge is still closed however 🤷‍♀️. Allow extra time for diversion.

Don’t forget that parking is still FREE after 2pm at all Durham County Council on street and off-street town centre parking. No ticket is needed!

(Please note our machines still accept payment during the free period and refunds cannot be given.)
