Founded in 1877, we are one of the premier boat clubs in the UK. Our distinctive palatinate blades are recognised throughout the rowing world.
We were extremely pleased to be joined by recent Olympic bronze medalist and DUBC alumna Lauren Irwin this week as we welcomed her back to train with the squad
Fresh off the back of winning bronze with the GB women’s 8 in Paris Lauren lifted weights with some of the fresh faces in our squad and was reunited with former coaches as the squad progresses with preseason training
It was an honour and a pleasure to welcome Lauren back and an inspiration for current squad members as training for the new season gets underway

Daisy Jackson, Women’s Captain: “DUBC has been a second home for me for the past 2 years and I have loved being a part of such a strong, supportive squad. I started rowing around 8 years ago at York City Rowing Club, and coming from a small club like this I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I found the squad atmosphere and support from the coaching team absolutely unmatched. The way everyone inspires each other to be the best versions of themselves day in day out is something DUBC prides itself on.
I’m starting my 3rd year at Durham and 2nd year as Women’s captain. I can’t wait to welcome all our newcomers and build on the many successes of the past couple years! I’m excited to help make this year the best one in history for DUBC💜
I will be supported by Izzie Kennedy as the new Women’s Vice Captain.”
Charlie Warren, Men’s captain: “I’m going into my third year at Durham, reading Engineering. I am very excited to take the role of men’s captain this year and push the club forward. I came into Durham from the Windsor Boys School, where I won Henley Royal Regatta in the quad.
I have been apart of DUBC for 2 years now racing in the second eight in my first year and the first VIII last year. Having a successful second year by winning intermediate pairs and 3rd in championship eights at BUCS regatta and making the Friday of Henley in the Temple.
I am looking forward to continuing the recent success of the boat club. This will be done by focusing on the integration of the new members to the squad at the start. There is a strong intake this year on the men’s and women’s side so capitalising on this is essential.
I will be supported by March Turnbull as the new Men’s Vice Captain.”
Hi, I am Will, I am president for DUBC this season. I am going into my 2nd year at Durham and I am studying engineering.
Before coming to DUBC I rowed at Hereford Cathedral School for 5 years. I raced for them 3 times at Henley in the Fawley challenge cup and picked up a few national schools regatta medals. In my first year at Durham I rowed in the 1st 8 winning Ch8 Bronze at BUCS regatta and made it to the Friday of the Temple Challenge Cup with an inspiring crew.
This season as President I am looking forward to pursuing the clubs goals and connecting with the wider DUBC community.

🟣 Henley Royal Regatta 🟣
Last week Durham University Boat Club competed against some of the best student clubs in the world at Henley Royal Regatta.
The men’s and women’s 1Vs raced successfully to advance to the Friday where they lost hard fought races against strong competition from Oxford Brooke’s University and eventual finalists Newcastle University respectively.
The women’s 2V made history, qualifying for the regatta for the first time, and narrowly lost a highly competitive race against Nottingham University on the Wednesday. The Men’s 2V were defeated by a strong Princeton University crew on the Tuesday, pushing them hard to the line.
These strong results represent the depth and quality of the squad this year and we aim to build upon this into the coming season.
