We have received the sad news that Cuth’s alumnus Darrell Buttery MBE (English Lit, 1964), died on 27th July this year. His memorial Service will be held at York Minster (and live streamed) on Tuesday 30th August 2022 at 1.30pm.
A tribute from his good friend James Lee -
‘A good, great man has left us so much the poorer by his departure from this life. Darrell and I shared lodgings as undergraduates at Saint Cuthbert’s Society, Durham University, over 60 years ago and remained firm friends to the end. Despite living on different continents for much of our lives, we spent many happy times together in York and Durham.’ James Lee (French, 1964)
