Meet the coaches part 4.
Introducing coach Hollie.
Q1) Job in ‘real’ life?
Civil servant
Q2) Why did you start CrossFit?
I started CrossFit because I wasn’t making much progress in a regular gym and I was feeling a bit isolated after graduating uni. At DHM I found the results I was looking for and a great group of people at the same time.
Q3) What’s your favourite thing about training?
Favourite part of training is achieving a goal I’ve been working towards. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of getting a new skill or hitting a PB on a lift.
Q4) What’s your favourite thing about coaching?
Seeing people achieve something that they thought they couldn’t. My best CrossFit memories are of other people hitting a PB or getting a new movement for the first time. Work hard and the results will come!

Part 3 of our ‘meet the coaches series’
Introducing coach Pete
Q1) Job in ‘real life’? - Staff Sergeant in the British Army
Q2) Why did you start CrossFit? - I’ve always been a massive fan of PT and sports in general, there’s a big emphasis on it in the Army where we’d always done Circuit Training and various other things with weights and odd objects. I’d seen Crossfit videos and wanted to give some Olympic lifting a go.
Q3) Favourite thing about coaching? - Seeing people push through something they didn’t think they could do, working out in a group will push you.
Q4) Favourite thing about training? - A lot of times for me it’s the grind, just get through it. One more burpee, one more run, building that mental resilience.
Tonight was two simple couplets with some rest between each workout.

Part 2 of our ‘meet the coaches’ series.
Next up is coach Rosi!
Q1) What is your job in ‘real life’?
A) Research systems manager
Q2) Why did you start CrossFit?
A) I started CrossFit because I thought the people who did it looked insanely fit and that's what I wanted too!
Q3) What is your favourite thing about coaching?
A) The lightbulb moment - when you see something click for someone!
Q4) What is your favourite thing about training?
A) It allows me to focus my mind completely, and it's never boring - there is always something new to learn or improve.
⭐️⭐️⭐️Meet the coaches⭐️⭐️⭐️
All of our coaches have full time jobs outside of the gym, so we understand the challenges of getting a balance between life and training better than most.
This is the first in the series of getting to know our coaches.
First up is the newest member of the coaching staff but one of the ‘older’ members.
Coach Aaron.
Q1) Job in ‘real life’? - Financial Planner
Q2) Why did you start CrossFit? - I’d always enjoyed playing competitive sport and missed the buzz when I stopped playing Sunday league football. I’d heard people talking about CrossFit back in 2014 and I decided to drop in for a free trial. I soon discovered that I was the proud owner of the worst squat in the gym!
Q3) Favourite thing about coaching? - I enjoy seeing people develop confidence inside and outside of the gym once they’ve been training with us short while.
Q4) Favourite thing about training? - I’m an over thinker so CrossFit is the closest thing I’ll ever get to meditation. When you’re in the midst of a workout all of your thoughts go out of the window and you just focus on getting the work done.
No Sunday rest day for this lot 💪💪
