Edinburgh's Theatre Festival StagEHd started as an idea of a core group of theatre practitioners and enthusiasts in the summer of 2020.
Partly in response to the closure of arts spaces during the Covid-19 pandemic, and born out of a conversation surrounding the commercialisation of events and public spaces in Edinburgh, StagEHd is an open-access, free-to-attend celebration of the cityโs best independent theatre companies. Currently presented under the umbrella of the Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group, StagEHd hopes to establish its
2024 update: unfortunately, there will be no StagEHd Festival in 2024.
We don't have the support needed to run the event this year. However, we hope to be back in future and in the meantime we have uploaded highlights from StagEHs-past.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for StagEHd 2023. To our supporters and funders, the artists and groups who shared their talent with us, and to you, our audience for coming to see the show!
We're love to hear your feedback on the event - this is invaluable for planning future years, learning what we did well and what we could do better.

Edinburgh's English and Polish bi-lingual performance troupe The Mirror of Stage / Lustro SCENY close StagEHd2023 with Moliรจre's Garden Party ๐ Shame, financial ruin, and a scandalous love affair!
Moliereโs Garden Party gently satirizes the pretensions of Monsieur Jourdain โ a social climber whose affectations are absurd to everyone but himself. Determined middle-class man is ready to sacrifice a lot to become a dream aristocrat. But are these desperate efforts only about changing his social status or maybe about looking for the way how to feel comfortable in own skinโฆ?

We canโt wait to welcome you to the Ross Bandstand for another weekend of entertainment next week. To help you make the most of your visit, weโve put together a checklist of top tips:
๐ค๏ธ Dress for the weather
StagEHd is an outdoor event and while we can plan for nearly everything, we canโt predict the weather. We recommend bringing a coat and sun cream just in case!
๐ฅช Pack a picnic
Whatโs better than a picnic in the park? A picnic with entertainment! Bring a blanket, some sandwiches and crisps, and enjoy the shows!
๐ซ Remember your free e-ticket
Seating is limited and reserved for those who have pre-booked or with access needs. We recommend arriving early if you would like a chair, or bring your own!
๐คน Tip the artists
Like all street theatre, there will be a bucket collection after each performance to tip the artists. Donations will be split between everyone performing, so you need only tip once if watching multiple shows.
๐ช Enjoy the show!
With six shows each day, thereโs something for everyone to enjoy. Check out our full programme and spend the day with StagEHd!

We're proud to present Edinburgh People's Theatre award-winning performance of The Book Club of Little Witterington ๐ A one-act comedy by Joan Greening.
The regular ladies of the Book Club, all friends since school, are wary of letting a newcomer to the village join. The newcomer is loud, brash and it seems an impossibility she can fit into their circle. But there's more to Paula than meets the eye, and she may even have what it takes to get around the appallingly snobbish Belle.
Winner at the Edinburgh District Scottish Community Drama Association SCDA One-Act Festival.

We're delighted to welcome The Forth Act for a preview performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream: Taster. ๐ A story of love, magic, and mistaken identities as the human and fairy worlds collide.
This new production, by The Forth Act, moves the action from ancient Athens to the modern-day Athens of the north - Edinburgh. However, some things never change. The rich are still the rich, the fairies are still enchanting, and the poor are still working on the streets, only now they are tour guides, scaffolders and fast-food delivery cyclists.
Following StagEHd The Forth Act will take A Midsummer Night's Dream to the Italian Garden in Saughton Park, Wed 21 - Sat 24 June. Catch their taster performance at StagEHd 2023.
