Another lovely review from Fjord review Assembly Festival Dance Base
Iconic Life is a thief,” pouts Alan Greig, emerging in the studio space clad in black vest, full skirt and voluminous trousers. Impish and imperious, he becomes Tennessee Williams in waspish mode even as he lies dying, or perhaps he's Blanche Dubois, looking to fill the void. Throughout this gorgeously u...

I saw this show tonight and was totally blown away: weird, compelling, erotic, fascinating, athletic. An incredible dance performance that will stay with me for years to come. Part of the Taiwan season Dance Base
Taiwan Season: Palingenesis Three lithe, masked bodies emerge as if from a primordial ooze and proceed to morph their way through a series of carefully crafted chain reactions. Are they individuals, a single organism or both? Inspired by a biological concept of regeneration, hot-shot Taiwanese choreographer Chuang Po-Hsiang's....
🌟 DANCE BASE FESTIVAL 24 in partnership with Assembly🌟
A regular collaborator with Dance Base, Alan Greig is set to deliver a site responsive solo dance performance, Within Reach, that looks at the ageing body and plays with gender, identity, and LGBTQ+ icons including Quentin Crisp, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis and Tennessee Williams. Delivered through a combination of eccentric spoken word monologues and crisp choreographed vignettes as he traverses the halls of Dance Base, the work provides a captivating, engaging and humorous exploration of identity, culture, and the cracked glamour of fame.

Dance Base Scotland and Edinburgh International Festival are proud to announce the 24 dance artists taking part in an Artistic Development Week, connecting Scotland and countries across Africa this July. ⭐
This August, dancers from across Africa will come to Edinburgh to perform in The Rite of Spring / common ground[s], in the first collaboration between the Pina Bausch Foundation (Germany), École des Sables (Senegal) and Sadler’s Wells (UK), presented as part of Edinburgh International Festival.
The British Council is supporting an artistic development week that will bring together twelve dance artists from across Scotland to exchange skills and collaborate with twelve counterparts who are here in Edinburgh to perform in The Rite of Spring.

Solène Weinachter Dance to the role!
“During this year, I would like to support you in finding out what a sustainable practice as a dance artist means - practically, physically, creatively and politically. As well as being challenged and gaining new knowledge, the aim of this year is to support you in discovering/working with what is alive for you (both as an artist and a human) and make that lead your professional choices,” Solène has shared.
To find out more information on what the programme provides, whether it could be for you and how to apply, please head to the website ⬇
