Carnival Day at Edinburgh's RHCYP
Kindred had a fantastic day on Tuesday with the families and staff at Edinburgh's Children and Young People's Hospital Carnival Day. Lots of fun was had at the event where Kindred held a name the teddy event. Our thanks go to Ben and his mum for drawing out the winning tickets.
The event was organised through Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity and Ronald McDonald House Edinburgh. Thank you
💙
😍 Kindred very much enjoyed taking part in Carnival Day and spending time with families and our friends at RHCYP.
Baby Mabel was on holiday in Edinburgh, and needed emergency treatment after becoming seriously unwell. A very scary and overwhelming time for all the family. The Critical Care team referred the family to Kindred for support.
We're so happy to hear how well you're doing Mabel, and loving the happy photo of you with your sisters! ❤
We've supported Leo and his family since they were referred to us when Leo was a few weeks old. He was in hospital for over a year, but is now home with mum and dad! (And like mum and dad is super happy about being home!!) ❤

Thank you to the R S Macdonald Charitable Trust
Kindred are delighted to announce an award of £40,000 from
The R S Macdonald Charitable Trust to support our services to Kindred families over the next 2 years."
Kindred's director, Sophie Pilgrim said, “Our grant from The R S Macdonald Charitable Trust is towards our work with families of a child with a neurological condition, which includes most of the families we support. Our core funding gives us the flexibility to decide on how we spend our grant. We are delighted to receive such a generous multi-year grant. As well as maintaining our services to families, this funding enables us to stretch a little further to explore exciting new provision such as our Parenting Programme, E-PAtS
It's sometimes hard to put into words how we support families, as every family is unique. This lovely card says what our support meant to them. ❤

Kindred are so thankful to everyone that ran and supported our runners at this years EMF24. Whether you ran the 5k or the half marathon, thank you!
We are especially thankful to the runners from Artemis Charitable Foundation and all the individual runners who took part.
Despite the horrible weather, spirits were high and Kindred had a brilliant year at the EMF. The finishers were all elated, Kindred director Sophie Pilgrim said "It was a fantastic atmosphere, thank you so much to everyone who ran for us."
Kindred runner Finlay Bell said "It was a great day and ran faster than I ever thought I could lol! Was good fun and going to have to sign up for the Marathon now! I was happy to help this lovely charity and hopefully next time I’ll raise even more."
Thanks Finlay, we hope you do too :)

Many thanks to everyone who supported the sale last weekend which raised an amazing £764.90 for Kindred.
We are hosting a P7 to S1 Transition group on Friday the 24th May from 2 to 4pm for those young carers who will be transitioning from primary to high school in August 2024.
In the session your child can:
➡ Meet other young carers who are moving up to high school too. Some may even go to the same school.
➡ We can talk about worries and fears and give practical advice.
➡ We can introduce the names of the YC Champions which are based in the high schools.
➡ Give top tips and hints.
Hopefully, it will be a time where young people can feel comfortable and explore the topic, share worries in a safe space and provide support for one another.
We will contact the school champions and let them know that there are young carers transitioning to their school unless you have indicated otherwise in the consent forms. If you could, confirm which school your child is moving up to that would be so helpful, thank you.
Hopefully, the group may help alleviate some of the anxieties around moving up.
If you would like your child to attend these sessions then please call 01506 448 000 or email [email protected] to register, any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
