Squirrels are typically quite easy to spot as they'll make their presence known once they're inside your home. They're not scared of humans and they don't try to be discreet, they are usually very noisy.

They leave their nest frequently to feed. You may see squirrels entering or leaving through an opening on your home. Your loft or attic is a good place to check if you've seen them coming or going.

You may also notice gnaw damage. Squirrels teeth are growing rapidly so they need to gnaw constantly.

Some tips for getting rid of squirrels:

Remove any food sources, including bird feed and leftover food.

Cut back any tree branches so they're at least 2.5m/3m away from the roof. This will prevent squirrels from accessing your roof.

If you've spotted a squirrel leaving your property, block that entry point to prevent it being used to gain entry to your home again. This can also be coupled with live traps, although we recommend only professional squirrel control experts (like us here at Pestforce) use this method.
