Putting a face to the name.

I realise that apart from the occasional photo of my daughter, India, and me, I havenā€™t properly introduced myself to followers who arenā€™t trained by me.

Iā€™m Scott, with five years of experience in the fitness industry and four years as a qualified Personal Trainer. Iā€™ve been fully self-employed for the past 18 months.

My philosophy on training is simple: focus on the basics, avoid overcomplicating, and prioritise athletic goals over aesthetic ones.

While working with experienced trainers is rewarding, I take immense pride in working with complete beginners, guiding them on their journey to becoming regular gym attendees who aim for increased strength, fitness, and overall health.

My clients range from children as young as 11 to adults in their 70s. I offer 1-to-1 personal training, joint sessions, and group classes.

I operate from my own private studio, fully equipped with a variety of free weights, resistance machines, and cardio equipment.

All I ask from my clients is to give their all during sessions and demonstrate full commitment.

Thatā€™s enough about me; if you have any questions, my DMs are always open.

ā€¼ļø Iā€™ve 2 hours available each week for PT sessionsā€¼ļø

One of my regular clients has moved back to London freeing up some space.

Iā€™ve done many a thing for clients over the years. Today however, forgot his gym kit. With no spare kit here I leant him my shorts in exchange for his Levi 501s.

Today was also Simonā€™s last session with me. Simon is based in London but works in Exeter Monday to Thursday, however as of next week he begins a new role closer to home.

Itā€™s been an absolute pleasure training Simon. Whilst heā€™s worked hard, heā€™s one of the nicest guys I train and Mondays and Thursdays will be a little quieter without him.

Thanks for everything mate, Iā€™ve honestly enjoyed every session. All the best for the future.

Other than photos of Indie, I donā€™t really tend to share stuff on here, or in person for that matter about things personal to me.

I think my sister sums up everything in her post, and you can see why this is important to us.

I know itā€™s January, I know everyoneā€™s skint, but if you could spare anything you have to help us reach our target, it would be greatly appreciated.

Like anything, Iā€™m going to put 100% into this, and training starts this week.

If you want a link to our donation page, head to my Facebook or message me on here.

Thank you x

Little touch up for the new year!

24/12/2023

MERRY CHRISTMAS šŸŽ„

Iā€™d just like to apologise that my Christmas leave has been a bit longer than I anticipated. Unfortunately due to the girls being in hospital for just over a week, my plan of having a week off from the birth wasnā€™t possible.

I am going to be returning on 2 January raring to go. I hope the extended break will give each of my clients enough rest, but at the same time, youā€™ll be itching to return too!

Iā€™d also like to thank all my clients for the thoughtful presents, messages and support, itā€™s genuinely so appreciated.

So, just over a week and we can all get back to it, in that week, eat, drink and enjoy yourselves, and I look forward to seeing each of you in the new year!

With a few new starters and a couple cancellations last week I want to clarify my cancellation policy for both individual and pair sessions.

For pair sessions where one person cancels within 24 hours:
1ļøāƒ£ The person who cancels must cover their partner's session cost, OR
2ļøāƒ£ Both clients will forfeit the full session.

For individual sessions canceled within 24 hours:
You will be charged for the full session.

These policies help me manage my time effectively and provide the best service. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your understanding.

Following on from my post Friday,

Changes in the meniscus are common, whether due to sports activities or the natural aging process. Studies have shown that even among individuals without knee pain, around 30% had meniscus tears at an average age of 44. Similarly, a systematic review of various studies involving nearly 300 athletes without knee pain found that one third had abnormalities in their meniscus.

Just like our bodies change as we age - wrinkles appear, hair grays or thins, and vision deteriorates - changes can also show up in MRI tests. These changes shouldn't necessarily be interpreted as wear and tear or something inherently dangerous for our joints.

When sudden pain or symptoms arise, our natural instinct is to look for a cause. Seeking imaging is a common step, and as mentioned above, it's quite likely to reveal some abnormality. However, it's crucial to remember that these changes may have been present before the pain began. Rushing to find a problem can sometimes lead to unnecessary time away from our active lifestyles and training.

Pain and symptoms are often multi-faceted. They can be influenced by increased training volume, higher intensity workouts, or even starting a new exercise routine like running or lifting. These factors can contribute to discomfort, even without underlying joint abnormalities or the need for specific joint interventions.
